Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the busy South West Imaging Training Academy team as a Sonographer Education Lead, Band 8b (AfC). This role is offered as an 6-month secondment and is open to all Sonographers/Educators throughout the region.

***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as 'Priority' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***

12 month fixed term contract/secondment, with the possibility of becoming permanent.

Main duties of the job

As a HCPC registered Sonographer/Educator, with an extensive knowledge of sonographer education and training, you will be expected to co-ordinate and support the delivery of regional wide training in order to provide greater access to training and development for all levels of trainees. You will understand how imaging services are configured/regulated and have experience in developing complex education programmes. The successful candidate will link clinical education and practice and assist staff in bridging the gaps. They will develop evidence-based practice in the region, working with Sonography leads to coach and support staff to develop their practice.

The Sonography Education Lead would be responsible for ensuring region wide engagement and agreement. The Sonography Education Lead will also need to consider how the academy model will:

  • Respond to Imaging Network workforce requirements.
  • Enhance the provision of education and training.
  • Accelerate growth in the workforce.
  • Provide more efficiency and consistency than what currently exists. professional development.
  • Facilitate professional development.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • oA clinical qualification, registered with HCPC and active registration or licence to practice.

Desirable

  • oA higher diploma/degree in clinical education or leadership

Experience

Essential

  • oExtensive proven knowledge of Radiography education and training, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent demonstrable experience or training plus further specialist proven knowledge or demonstrable experience to master's level equivalent.

Desirable

  • oDemonstrable experience of developing education programmes across complex settings, including negotiating changes to traditional modes of delivery
