The Director of Clinical Services for Wound Care is a member of the Executive Team. Accelerate is seeking an experienced leader in wound care delivery to help take our mission forward. This is a rare opportunity for you to make a difference to a community and make your mark within an organisation that has a national and international reputation for clinical excellence and innovation. The role is Hybrid and expectations are to work within the Accelerate Centre as well as from home or at sites across the UK. We have accommodation on site for part week working if required. Main duties of the job

The Director of Clinical Services for Wound Care is to provide strategic direction for the directorate, its governance, clinical risk and quality infrastructure in collaboration with other Clinical Directors. You will act as principal advisor of wound care management to the Chief Executive and Board based on your national expertise, skills, and extensive knowledge in this field. You will be well versed in delivering community system change and improvement programmes within the challenges of political and financial barriers. You will be accountable for the upholding of high standards of professional practice in all aspects of wound care management, patient engagement and personalised patient care. You will lead by example, supporting a culture of distinction and service to our community.

The post holder will work strategically to increase the national position, visibility and reach of Accelerate in the drive to create system change for the community we serve. You will have the skills and experience to seize opportunities that will enhance collaborative relationships and will be responsible for the successful expansion of clinical delivery thereby increasing reach and revenue underpinned by a reputation for value based expert provision. Your expertise will support the Commercial Director in their execution of contract management and business development.

Your portfolio will include

The provision of strategic leadership for the inclusive delivery of wound care services for staff and patients and a cohesive delivery across the range of service provision and sites of delivery.

Accountable for the Business Continuity of clinical services within your portfolio.

The setting of clinical and record keeping standards, quality improvement and audit planning. To develop and manage strategic outcomes and metrics that demonstrate excellence in wound care delivery and patient partnership.

To strengthen our understanding of inequality and the impact on the local health economy and workforce.

  • Your statutory responsibilities as a director include Infection Prevention Lead, Mental Capacity and Liberty Protection Lead

To ensure excellent patient safety and experience within wound care provision across all sites and to be accountable for infection control management; deputise for the Clinical Director holding the Clinical Governance portfolio to ensuring the timely management of complaints, incidents and issues and associated Safeguarding and Duty of Candour standards. To cultivate our culture of transparency and learning.

The provision of professional leadership in wound care management, fostering a culture where all staff strive to achieve excellence in delivery and to develop professionally on their leadership journey.

To develop the reach and access to our services through the Learning in Practice contracts in partnership with the Director of Education; to lead on the clinical accountability and governance of these services.

To contribute to the Academy learning portfolio through the expert provision of teaching grounded in deep knowledge, relevant skills and current knowledge of the international environment.

To manage the research programme and associated revenue, ensuring a continuation of its role in advancing service development, critical thinking and patient involvement. Adhering to any professional standards and regulatory body (PSRB) guidance when appropriate.

Provide strategic clinical oversight of the dressing optimisation scheme Click and account management; to ensure this business area is founded on facilitative partnerships and the demonstration of value.

  • Act as principal advisor to the Board on all wound care delivery, outcome measures and business development opportunities.
  • Contribute to the commercial priorities of the Board by bringing expertise, scrutiny and due diligence required to enhance a collaborative and insightful approach. To meet the Nolan Principles of Public Life.
  • Deliver assurance to the Board, members and external stakeholders that Accelerate provides safe, effective and responsive care in an environment where clinical risk is proactively managed.

Develop partnership strategies with national stakeholders in the wound care field including Industry to support our mission, share best practice and develop commercial opportunities.

To deliver an annual portfolio of publications and national presentations.

To provide nursing leadership in wound care to deliver high quality and impactful results, inspiring others to be positive in their support of continuous service improvement and embedding high standards of clinical practice and care. Your deep knowledge and experience of this sector will ensure a drive towards the highest of standards. You will be focussed on the design, management and improvement of the clinical systems in Accelerate and professional expertise that create our services, pathways and offerings. Person Specification

Work Related Knowledge & Understanding

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years nursing experience as a band 7 or above Tissue Viability Nurse or Leg Ulcer nurse specialist;
  • Deep clinical understanding of wound care and the factors that impact on care delivery and patient outcomes;
  • Established knowledge and understanding of the central role of compression in all its forms within leg ulcer management;
  • A sound understanding of the key operational, strategic and economic challenges facing providers and commissioners;
  • An understanding of the wider implications of current or proposed policies for providers and commissioners;
  • Deep clinical insight of service delivery, management and impact on workforce and patients;
  • A sound understanding of clinical governance, risk management and assurance;
  • An understanding of professional development needs in the workforce
  • A deep understanding of the impact of health systems on patients and the role of personalised care;
  • Excellent understanding of infection prevention systems and management.
