Job summary

The Colne Practice is looking to recruit an advanced nurse practitioner (ANP) on a part time basis for 22.5 hours, on a Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, who is competent in practice using their expert clinical knowledge and skills. You will have the freedom and authority to act and make clinical decisions in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Main duties of the job

  • Managing patients presenting with a range of acute and chronic medical conditions, providing subject matter expert advice.
  • Be an extended and supplementary prescriber, adhering to extant guidance.
  • Requesting and interpreting pathology services as necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records in conjunction with extant legislation.
  • Ensuring SNOWMED codes are used effectively.
  • Supporting the team in dealing with clinical emergencies.
  • Contributing to practice targets including QOF and IIF.
  • Chaperoning patients where necessary.
  • Undertaking consultations face to face/telephone/video call and home visits.
  • Being responsible for the implementation of an effective immunisation programme.

About us

The Colne Practice is a friendly GP practice with a list size of approximately 10,500 patients. Our team comprises 7 GP partners, 2 practice nurses, 1 HCA, 2 clinical pharmacists and reception and admin teams. We have on site staff parking.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Be a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
  • Have a post-graduate diploma or degree for Advanced Practice Qualification.
  • Be a qualified independent nurse prescriber, on the NMC register.

Experience

Essential

  • Have the ability to work within own scope of practice and understand when to refer to a GP.
  • Have the ability to problem solve.
  • Have knowledge of health promotion strategies
  • Understand the requirement for PGDs and associated policy.
  • Be motivated and a forward-thinker.
  • Be a problem solver.
  • Be sensitive and empathetic in distressing situations.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work under pressure in stressful situations.
