Job summary

The Associate Medical Director for Digital (AMDD) will work alongside our Chief Information Officer and the Chief x Information Officer (covering Nursing, Midwifery & AHP workforce) on the Trusts new Digital Transformation programme, B.Digital.

The B.Digital programme consists of a number of exciting developments such as the implementation of a new Electronic Patient Record (EPR), further adoption the Trusts Nexus Patient Record (NPR) and convergence of other systems across the Lancashire & South Cumbria ICS.

The postholder will be responsible for encouraging clinical ownership of the digital and transformation agenda across the organisation, acting as an ambassador, and influencing colleagues from all front line professions to be involved in the Trusts B.Digital programme.

Main duties of the job

  • Providing strong clinical leadership of the strategic development, design, and implementation of the B.Digital programme across the organisation to support better health and care, improved patient outcomes and experience, and better value and affordability.
  • Setting the vision for future ways of working, aligning future clinical processes with digital and building design considerations.
  • Serving as a core member of relevant digital steering groups / boards, acting as the chair where necessary.
  • Leading clinical engagement in the development of the model of care, including the challenge to transform services and future proof service delivery.
  • Lead and facilitate engagement with academic partners to maximise the potential of data for research & innovation.
  • Convening a wider group of clinical leaders to engage in and with digital transformation.
  • Overseeing the strategic leadership of the procurement, development, deployment, optimisation, and ongoing enhancement of clinical information systems to ensure they support clinicians in the delivery of safe and effective patient care.

To help us achieve this we are looking for a transformational leader with exemplary clinical credibility to provide expert clinical advice and to be the key conduit to our medical workforce to ensure we have good patient and clinical input and engagement in the Trusts B.Digital programme.

The AMDD will have 4 PAs for the Digital. For any external applicants, we would welcome you in bringing your clinical practice, and we are happy to discuss flexible working patterns.

To help the AMDD and our Digital Transformation journey, there's also an opportunity to build a new team consisting of 5 x Divisional Digital Leads, each with 2 PAs for each clinical division.

Qualifications and Registration

Essential

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council
  • Clearance by Occupational Health to carry out the full range of duties of the post.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualifications in relevant topic.

Personal Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience of a similar role or working at an equivalent level in a relevant healthcare organisation.
  • Outstanding reputation as a clinician and clinical leader, with a proven track record of producing high quality results in the area of clinical information.
  • Experience in building organisational capabilities, including establishing a clear strategic vision and direction and translation into successful outcomes.
  • Experience of managing organisation wide agendas.
  • Experience of delivering transformation projects/programmes.
  • Evidence of continuing professional and managerial development.

Attributes

Essential

  • The energy, stamina and drive commensurate with working at a senior level in a large NHS Trust, evidenced by health record and attitude to work.
  • Ability to work flexibly and to travel across hospital sites associated with Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on a regular basis, and regionally and nationally when required.
  • Satisfactory health screening and CRB checks.
  • Willingness to undertake training required for the job.
  • Understand and maintain confidentiality.
