Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join the specialist CAMHS eating disorder service.We are looking for a practitioner; preferably with experience of working with young people, although experience with young adults or adults with eating disorders is also relevant.We welcome applications from practitioners who have a passion for delivering safe, effective, and high-quality care. The successful applicant will join our experienced MDT in the delivery of our ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder) pathway.The ARFID MDT sit within the wider Eating Disorders Team and the post holder will have an opportunity to provide OT specific interventions to all clinical pathways, including group and individual work.This role gives opportunity for development of clinical and leadership skills and expertise in a supportive multi-disciplinary team.Working alongside the OT professional lead there will be a focus on OT development across the team including audit and research.You will be supported within the team by senior clinicians and will work closely with other specialists within the service. Clinical supervision and professional leadership will be provided.There are excellent opportunities for professional development within team through supervision, training, team CPD and wider CAMHS and Trust events. There will also be opportunities to network with other OTs within the trust.

Main duties of the job

To manage a caseload of complex clients, using evidence based, client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.

To provide specialist clinical advice and input for clients with complex problems and needs.

To ensure occupational therapy contribution to the provision of quality clinical care and performance standards.

To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of occupational therapy and local services within a designated team, holding responsibility for defined projects.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree/Diploma in occupational therapy
  • Evidence of post qualification study
  • Registration with the HPC as an occupational therapist
  • Practice Education training
  • Training in the use of standardised occupational therapy assessment tools

Desirable

  • Management/Leadership training

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience as a qualified occupational therapist in mental health
  • Broad experience of working with clients with a range of mental health problems
  • Experience of both group and individual work
  • Experience of multidisciplinary working
  • Experience of supervising staff and students
  • Experience as a Care Coordinator
  • Experience in a clinical area related to the post

Desirable

  • Experience of multi-agency work

  • Able to communication complex condition related information to service users, carers and colleagues
