Job Purpose

The Fracture clinic is looking for an enthusiastic hardworking individual who can bring passion and willingness to learn whilst demonstrating the Trust values of care, quality commitment and the ability to work as a team player. This is an excellent opportunity to learn and develop new skills in a challenging and fast paced Outpatient Clinic environment. The role requires flexible working and will include assisting the consultants in clinic, preparing and checking patient records, learning how to apply braces and various splints. It will also involve working in reception answering telephones, liaising with the multi- disciplinary team and supporting a Paediatric outpatient clinic on a rotational monthly basis.

We are currently looking for a caring and motivated band 5 staff nurse to join our Outpatients Department team for 30 hours a week.

The successful candidate will be required to work within the Outpatient Department based at Leighton Hospital but also other areas when required to cover ward staff shortages.

Main duties of the job

Organising and co-ordinating outpatient clinics, assessing care needs and developing, implementing and evaluating programmes of care.

Working alongside other multidisciplinary teams.

Provide specialist information and support within the outpatient setting to both patients and nursing support staff.

Job responsibilities

  • To perform comprehensive assessment of patients nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate care in the outpatients setting, utilising research as appropriate and supporting junior colleagues with this.
  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team/agencies to ensure that patient needs are met.
  • To be designated to manage the clinic for the duration of shift by clinic manager.
  • Prepare the clinical area for safe practice by ensuring that cleanliness is maintained, materials and equipment are ready for use, including clearing away afterwards.
  • To support in the management of a specific group of patients and delver evidenced based nursing care to the highest standard.
  • Collect, collate and report information, maintaining accurate patient records/documentation.
  • To respond to and prioritise a wide range of demands and tasks in a rapidly changing environment, liaising with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • To contribute to the promotion of effective, appropriate and timely information and education to patients and relatives
