Its exciting times at Solihull Hospital. This Summer sees the completion of a state of the art robotic led elective hub, additional wards/ services and additional growth in our Out of Hospital Services. To support these plans and existing services, applications are now invited for the role of Medical Director for CDG7.

With Dr Pratima Gupta the CDG Medical Director you will provide leadership, strategic direction and management of all resources and colleagues within the Clinical Delivery Group (CDG).

As Medical Director your key responsibilities will be in the provision of quality care to our patients through effective clinical pathways and providing psychological safe environment for our staff to work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary senior leadership team at Solihull.

Main duties of the job

As Medical Director for CDH7 you will join the wider Senior Leadership team and in partnership with other CDG Medical Directors will deliver its clinical strategy and the safe and efficient functioning of Solihull Hospital and Out of Hospital Services.

Success in this great opportunity will see your existing experience in clinical leadership, strategy design/ implementation and operational management- where you can deliver the priorities and find solutions to the challenges we often face.

Job responsibilities

Corporate

*Take a corporate lead with fellow Clinical Delivery Group Leads, and wider Leadership, for translating University Hospitals Birmingham's vision into reality, particularly inrelation to achieving significant and sustained improvements in the quality of clinical services providedby the Group and the way all staff groups are trained and developed.

*Contribute to the overall corporate management of the Group with specific responsibility for medical advice in relation to the Group and Hospital sites operational issues.

*To act as an ambassador for the Group, and Hospital, and contribute to the wider health and Group agenda in the region and nationally as appropriate.

*To promote a positive image for the Trust with external agencies.

*To foster partnerships/ relationships with appropriate external agencies including ICB, NHSE/I, HEWM, Professional Bodies, Regulators and Social Services.

Leadership

*To be a member of the Hospital CDG senior leadership team, working in partnership with other CDG Medical Directors to deliver the safe and efficient functioning of the Hospital and it's accompanying clinical strategy.

*To represent medical leadership at the CDG level.

*To be the 'on site' and 'day to day' medical lead for the respective CDG

*To lead clinical delivery as part of the CDG leadership triumvirate.

*To provide high level and visionary leadership to the CDG Medical workforce and all senior clinical leaders

*Be responsible for medical workforce development, contribution to service excellence and efficiency, good patient experience and professionalism

*To contribute to the development of policies, strategic direction and management of the Group.

*As a full member of the CDG, to contribute to the effective performance, leadership, and running of the Hospital, including Chairing sub-committees as required.

*Be responsible for providing senior clinical leadership with respect to quality and its governance and improvement within the CDG.

*Be responsible for achieving significant and sustained improvements in the quality of clinical servicesprovided by the CDG and the way all staff groups are trained and developed.

*Act as a specialist advisor to all staff and related agencies, specifically relating to Medicalstaff

*Support and promote an organisational culture committed to learning from complaints, incidents, audit, research and development.

*Promote an organisational culture that facilitates team-work in the design, management and delivery of clinical services, ensuring medical staff are both cognisant of and active in ensuring holistic models of care.

*To deputise when required for the Hospital Medical Director.

Strategic Development

*To contribute to the Hospital's strategic vision and develop relationships with key external partners and stakeholders.

*To ensure that the Hospital contributes effectively to the Group's strategic development and annual planning process.

*To lead the strategic service review within the CDG, and oversee the operationalisation of agreed plans.

Operational

*To provide professional support to the Hospital Medical Director.

*Contribute to the delivery of the Hospital, and Groups, Quality and Cost Improvement Programme(s)

*To ensure the delivery of the operational performance of the Hospital in relation to the delivery of operational standards, including Cancer, RTT, A&E, as well as CQUINs and Best Practice Tariff Pathways

*To Chair CDG SMT and oversees the monitoring and delivery of operational, quality, financial and workforce requirements.

*To ensure that the CDG medical senior management teams have a clear set of objectives (that contribute to corporate objectives).

Clinical

*To support the Hospital Medical Director in the redesign of clinical services to meet the Trust's strategic direction.

*To lead the development of improved services in terms of quality, effectiveness and efficiency across the CDG, ensuring that agreed efficiency and productivity standards are achieved and that best practice pathways are adopted where appropriate

Governance

*To ensure that appropriate and effective arrangements are deployed for all aspects of Quality, Risk Management and Governance through the CDG.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • *Qualified Medical or Dental professional, GMC or GDC registered
  • *Postgraduate qualifications in either medical education or clinical governance
  • *Unblemished registration with GMC.
  • *Evidence of continuing professional development
