This is a fantastic and exciting opportunity for an experienced, driven and talented pharmacist to further their clinical experience and pharmacy development by joining the team providing clinical pharmacy services to the tertiary cardiac centre at Morriston Hospital.

Being one of only two centres in Wales offering TAVI and Ablation services, alongside having one of the most efficient catheter labs in the UK. We also provide services to most of the secondary care sites in South Wales, treating patients as far west as Pembrokeshire to as far east as Bridgend.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead, develop and provide a patient-oriented pharmacy service to the various cardiac wards including cardiology & cardiothoracic.
Working alongside clinical colleagues in the tertiary cardiac centre, you will be fully integrated into the multidisciplinary team to support all the pharmaceutical needs of the cardiac unit, and this will include opportunities for advanced practice. Future development of the cardio-thoracic centre and cardiology services will provide exciting opportunities for pharmacy service development.
Support and mentoring will be provided to the successful candidate to ensure that you fulfil your potential in the exciting and challenging role.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the pharmacy service to the cardiac unit.
The role will involve working collaboratively with pharmacy colleagues, clinicians, nursing staff and other members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care to cardiac patients. The role will be mainly ward-based, providing and supervising a range of medicines management services for patients from the time of their admission through to their discharge.
The role will also involve identifying areas for improvement in pharmaceutical services within the cardiac unit and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, quality, and patient satisfaction.
A major component will be the proactive provision of timely, evidence-based advice to prescribers to enhance patient care and promote cost-effective use of medicines. Supervision, mentoring and training of junior colleagues will also be a major component of the job.
The post holder will participate in dispensary duties and provide clinical leadership to junior pharmacists and trainees. In addition, the role will require the ongoing completion of core directorate activities including analysis of medicines expenditure, clinical governance audits, service improvement projects and risk management.

To contribute to the ongoing operational provision of the pharmacy service, in line with departmental rotas to meet the needs of the service. Participate in weekend, Bank Holiday and out of hours rotas as dictated by the needs of the service
Provide clinical pharmacy support to the dispensary as part of the pharmacist's dispensary rota. To communicate and work with locality teams to deliver an integrated service across the health community.
