Job summary
We are looking for a GP to cover Maternity Leave on a 9 month fixed term contract( with a view to extending a further 3 months) from late September for 5 sessions per week.
As a practice we are in the heart of Brixton, just off the High Street. We have 6 salaried GP's and a GP Partner on site, who are fully supported by our ANP, 2 Trainee Nursing Associates, Clinical Pharmacist, 2 Care Co-Ordinators & Mental Health Practitioner. Our fully staffed reception and administration team are led by our Assistant Practice Manager and Team Leader. Each GP has a nominated receptionist to assist with administration. We are an EMIS web practice and have a telephone first appointment system.

Duty Dr sessions per week
A share of Docman and prescriptions
Supporting the wider clinical team.

Job Description:
The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients. Responsibilities will reflect requirements of the NHS GP Contracts, and as such may be subject to change as services adapt.
Clinical responsibilities:
In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make their selves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery face to face, telephone and online consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
As required by the clinical rota, provide cover for daily Duty Dr both AM & PM
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health
Providing counselling and health education
Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
Collecting data for audit purposes
Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care. This includes Docman and E- Consults.
Completion of medical reports (including NHS and private services as required)
Other responsibilities within the organisation:
Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety
A commitment to continuous learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice
Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation
Attending training and meetings organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.

Qualifications
Essential
- GMC Registered- not subject to suspension
- Qualified General Practitioner
- Currently on Performers List
- Clear Enhanced DBS Check
- Experience of working in General Practice
- Experience of working with vulnerable groups
- Delivery of clinical audit

- Experience of using Docman, DXS and Accurx.
