Job summary

The West of England Pathology Network is entering an exciting phase, considering next steps in our development that take advantage of the increasing maturity of network relationships and functions and exploring the transformation opportunities available to our collaborative. A unique opportunity has arisen for an enterprising and highly motivated Pathology Network Director with significant pathology leadership experience to join our Network Senior Leadership Team triumvirate. This will be an exciting opportunity for an individual with an HCPC registered Biomedical or Clinical Scientist background to shape the strategy of the West of England Pathology Network beyond March 2025 and act as the leadership face of the Network. The successful individual will play a key role in strengthening relationships with our Network partner Trusts and ICBs, a critical component of our next steps in deepening Network collaboration.

About us

The West of England Pathology Network Leadership Team is comprised of talented and committed individuals, determined to make a difference across the Network for our patients and our workforce. The team is predominantly remote working, which although challenging at times, generally works very effectively. As the leadership face of the Network, it is expected that the Pathology Network Director will have regular physical presence across our Network sites.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist or HCPC registered Clinical Scientist
  • Experience at senior management level within pathology services
  • Experience working in partnership and supporting collective decision-making in system wide or local work programmes
  • Track record of success and delivery in leadership role(s) within pathology services and able to provide specific examples of the changes implemented
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels and from all professional backgrounds

Desirable

  • Qualification in Healthcare Leadership
