An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Perinatal Mental Health Team as a Clinical Team Manager.

The role is working with a friendly and outstanding multidisciplinary team. You will be enthusiastic and willing to share our vision to deliver excellent patient care.

We are looking for someone with excellent communications skills, highly motivated and forward thinking to be able to deliver mental health support to our service users are their wider support system.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be central in the continued development of the Livewell Southwest vision to deliver high quality perinatal services. The post holder will ensure the delivery of these services in accordance with robust governance arrangements within Livewell Southwest which will include line management and/or taking a lead clinical and managerial role in an area of service effectiveness. They will a have some direct patient responsibility as well a consultation and training model of delivery. They will take responsibility for the day to day management of the Perinatal Mental Health Team and provide liaison and support to the wider health community.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To take day to day management responsibility for the Perinatal Mental Health Team, using performance management systems to ensure the effective delivery of contracted activity.

To work with senior managers to deliver integrated governance requirements and be accountable for delivering governance within the team. This may include contributing to the writing of policy and procedure documents relating to clinical practice.

To ensure team members comply with key mechanisms to support clinical delivery. This will include Care Programme Approach, Clinical Records Management, Health Care Data Entry, Incident reporting, Serious untoward Incident Review and complaints.

To ensure completion of Risk Assessments, contribute and undertake risk management plans. Have responsibility for Health and safety; fire safety responsibilities required by statute, regulation, legal obligations and LWSW policies.

To be accountable for implementing policy relating to health and safety and monitor compliance.

To assess and determine the development/training needs of team, and contribute to the Continued Professional Development CPD training Programme.

To contribute to the development and delivery of training for the wider stakeholders and partnership agencies.

To ensure Professional registration requirements are continually met and clinical supervision is arranged and undertaken on a minimum monthly basis.

To advise on autonomous clinical practice to an agreed area of service delivery.

The post holder will contribute to the delivery of consultation and training.

The post will be able to under limited clinical work which will be agreed by the service manager.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • At least 3 years-experience in a senior clinical role with experience of managing a multi disciplinary team.
  • Evidence of transferable clinical, risk management and managerial skills at a senior level.
  • Extensive Clinical experience in Mental Health care, crisis management and positive risk taking.
  • Interagency working.

Desirable

  • Senior management experience.
  • Experience of managing a high level of risk.
  • Performance management.
  • Experience of implementing competencies and essential training for a team.
  • To have worked within an acute inpatient setting.
  • Previous deputy team manager experience.
  • Budget management experience.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Extensive professional knowledge acquired through clinical practice in a Community Mental Health and/or inpatient setting , underpinned by training at degree level/diploma level specialist training or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence based practice and Nice Guidance.
  • Good knowledge of current NHS and Social Care Policy and relevant legislation.
  • Evidence of CPD.
  • Understand the Principles of Governance, particularly in relation to their Service area.
  • Trauma Informed and Recovery Focussed interventions.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist (with a minimum of 3 years experience of working with people who use secondary mental health care services).
  • Post graduate diploma / degree level study related to health/social care or equivalent worked experience relevant to the role.

Desirable

  • Teaching/Assessing course such as mentorship module or equivalent.
