The
post involves the supervised training in practical and academic duties for the
repair and management of medical equipment across Barnsley Hospital NHS
Foundation Trust.
As
the Medical
Equipment Library Apprentice, you will be
part of the Medical Engineering team that is in charge of looking after Medical
Devices throughout the Hospital; from preventative maintenance to repairs.
The
role will be supported by the entire team, and will be based within the
hospital in the Medical Engineering Workshop where the Medical Library is
located.
It
is a great opportunity for a candidate who is passionate about learning how to
repair and maintain medical equipment, to maintain records and documentation
accurately and in order, and who envisages a career within a Healthcare
environment.
Main duties of the job
The Medical Equipment
Library Apprentice will work in a
supported learning environment to develop the skills and knowledge which will
assist the apprentice to participate in scheduled collection, stock control, maintenance
and electrical safety testing as required.
The
post-holder will gain knowledge of all Departmental procedures, safety
regulations and any legislation that is relevant to the job.

All
tasks will be carried out under strict supervision, however will involve
discussion with clinical, non-clinical and technical staff to help support all
aspects of the life cycle of medical devices management as relevant. Admin
tasks will also be included as documentation is part of the management of
Medical Devices Library and overall management of an asset.
