Job summary
To
deliver a market-leading digital pathology platform and solutions, NPICs
digital pathology service is underpinned by Information Technology and
supported by central funding from NHS England, Innovate UK and the Office for
Life Sciences in-excess. With a number of Trusts currently utilising its
services, NPIC has a pipeline of over 30 NHS Trusts looking to adopt its
digital platform.
You
will play a key role in the delivery of a high-quality digital pathology
programme, platform and associated operations and services. This requires an
individual who is driven, ambitious and passionate about patient care, and
who has a desire to influence at the highest levels working in close
partnership with senior clinical and managerial staff.
To
succeed in this role the successful candidate will need experience in project
management, and the ability to build successful networks and collaborations
across a complex range of stakeholders, including industry, academia, NHS and
patients
Main duties of the job
This
role requires an individual who is driven, ambitious and passionate about
improving patient care through the use of cutting-edge technology. The post
holder will be responsible for the delivery of service re-design, policy /
procedure creation & technical implementation and creation and service
development. The job holder will use experience and judgement to evaluate
complex requirements and implement solutions that are consistent with the
overall aims of the Programme.
About us
The
National Pathology Imaging Co-operative (NPIC) programme, a £100m+ initiative
supported by central funding from NHS England, Innovate UK and the Office for
Life Sciences. NPIC has the ambition to provide a national platform to
support pathology services.
The
ambitions of the programme include:
1)
Driving clinical use of digital pathology nationally and providing a platform
to support this;
2)
Designing, building and maintaining a platform for the development of
artificial intelligence and the evaluation of the AI lifecycle
3)
Providing a platform for further research & innovation and maximising the
platform to facilitate this.
This
programme is underpinned by Information Technology and the delivery of a
range of digital solutions. The Trusts commitment to this programme includes
the implementation of a number of internally developed and externally
procured Digital solutions.

Essential
Has experience of managing projects in a structured environment ideally in
accordance with the NHS standard for Project Management (Prince 2)
Has experience of delivering projects which deliver systems & support in
clinical environments which required clinical & non-clinical staff to
modify their way of working.
Has successfully introduced new or updated systems to meet user requirements.
Can provide evidence of specialist knowledge in all aspects of application
implementation and change management. This knowledge to have been attained by
working in an environment within a large organisation
Has a thorough appreciation of the opportunities that new technology creates.
Can act as the lead specialist in the both the project management and change
management arena.
Prince 2 foundation qualification.
Evidence of continued professional development.
Professional or first degree level qualification
Desirable
Has experience of projects that span multiple organisations
Has contributed to the development of strategy and its tactical
implementation.
Has been responsible for the structured acceptance testing of application
software.
Knowledge of the NHS Plan and Modernisation agenda.
Knowledge of the NHS National Programme for IT.
