Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic Paediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Peripheral Nerve Injury Unit. This will be a development Band 6 role with progression into Band 7 on completion of competencies (Typically 12-18 months).
The role offers vast opportunities and development both internal and external to the Trust.
We are seeking a highly motivated, committed, and passionate individual to join this team which works with paediatrics from as young as 3 months into adulthood.
You must have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a multi - disciplinary team and prioritise your workload as well as being able to lead and maintain high standards of care. You should be confident to work under your own initiative as well as under guidance from medical clinicians. Candidates should also possess ENB 219 or 371 and ENB 998 or equivalent and have at least two years' experience as a band 6 nurse.

Main duties of the job
- To work with the surgeons to develop a genuinely multi-disciplinary service this optimises patient care.
- To attend outpatient clinics and support the provision of an effective patient assessment and education service through the pre-operative assessment clinics.
- Perform any clinical procedure, which is necessary for pre-operative assessment.
- Request diagnostic and clinical investigations as appropriate.
- Attend pre-operative conferences and post-operative ward rounds as necessary.
- Run stand-alone follow-up outpatient clinics for patients who have routine operations.
- Support ward-based nursing staff with information and advice about all aspects of surgical care.
- Collaborate in the development of protocols concerning patient care and nursing practice.
- Facilitate the development and implementation of protocols for post-operative care, and use clinical judgement when deviation from protocols is indicated.
- Liaise with Allied Health Professionals to attempt to optimise multi-disciplinary care delivery.

- Professional Healthcare Registration, NMC - RSCN ?First Degree or willingness to start a Degree within 12 months of appointment ?Specialist course within your speciality or numerous years of experience at this level of nursing
