Job description

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be required to:

Manage a caseload of clients- Occupational Therapy led and Care Co-ordinator led.

Provide specialist occupational therapy clinical advice and input for clients with complex problems and needs.

Ensure occupational therapy contribution to the provision of quality clinical care and performance standards.

Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of occupational therapy and local multi-professional services.

Report to, or assist/advise the Team Leaders of any matters of complaint.

To fully participate in the Trusts performance review and personal development planning process on an annual basis.

To provide effective guidance, supervision and appraisals for junior staff. Clinical Responsibilities Your clinical responsibilities will be to:

Operate as a senior occupational therapy practitioner and manage an appropriate complex clinical caseload. You will supported in 3- way caseload supervision with the CMHT Manager and Psychologist alongside usual clinical supervision from the MH AHP Lead.

Promote evidence based practice in occupational therapy and mental health.

Monitor, evaluate and modify treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of interventions.

Provide clinical assessment, formulation, intervention, review including care co-ordination for service users, their families and carers.

To critically evaluate outcomes including assessment and management of risk.

To plan and implement in the provision of a range of self-maintenance vocational and leisure based activities in an individual or group setting depending on the needs of the patients and linking with community resources where appropriate.

To plan and implement appropriate discharge and liaison with relevant agencies

Contribute to the development of multi-disciplinary best practice clinical guidelines and protocols.

Ensure that up to date written and electronic records and activity data are maintained in accordance with Professional and Trust standards and to provide specialist occupational therapy reports relevant to the practice setting.

To adhere to Trust risk management policies and procedures.

To champion occupational and recovery approaches within the service area

Develop and maintain effective communication structures, facilitating two-way communication on professional and Trust issues.

Provide advice to team members, clients, carers and the wider network.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • HCPC registration
  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstratable experience as an Occupational Therapist (NHS/Private) UK setting within last 2 years.
  • Cognitive and psycho-social assessment skills.
  • Complex discharge planning.
  • Interpersonal skills
