Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our large, dynamic and friendly team of audiologists, clinical scientists, apprentices and trainees in the Adult Audiology service across several sites in Bristol & Weston. We offer a broad range of services including diagnostic audiovestibular assessment (DAV) and vestibular rehabilitation (VR), tinnitus management; and work closely with ENT for neuroma/ NF2 clinics and complex balance clinics. There are strong links locally with children's audiology, transition to adult services, the regional hearing implant program, physiotherapy and neurology.

The Department is IQIPS accredited, and is nationally accredited (NSHCS) as a training centre for up to Masters' level clinically through the STP (Scientist Training Program). We are research and audit active, and all team members are actively encouraged to engage in this, with full support.

Main duties of the job

  • Full range of routine and complex audiological assessment, including vestibular testing.
  • Hearing aid fitting and rehabilitation.
  • Tinnitus management.
  • Management of vestibular caseload including particle repositioning/ rehabilitation.
  • Clinical audits and research, in collaboration with the diagnostic team/ whole department.
  • CPD/ Trust essential training

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • STP Neurosensory science (Audiology) or MSc Audiology plus Certificate of Audiological Competence (CAC)/ HTS modules or can demonstrate evidence of development of knowledge and skills to this level
  • HCPC/RCCP Registered as appropriate
  • Recognised training in areas of vestibular investigation and rehabilitation

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Experience in Diagnostic Audio vestibular Investigation
  • Good knowledge base in all aspects of Adult Audiology

Desirable

  • Minimum of 2 years relevant post qualification experience
  • Experience of teaching/training of staff
  • Experience of running a balance rehabilitation clinic

Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Ability to communicate complex scientific information both oral and written
  • An advanced level of clinical skills and knowledge of Audiological conditions and treatments
  • Analytical skills to be able to interpret and compare a range of options for problem solving
  • Ability to Prioritise
  • Good Time Management skills
