We work with surgeons who are the best in their specialities carrying out simple to the more complex surgeries.
Your role as Head of Theatres & Anaesthetics at Bupa Cromwell hospital will be to provide high-level operational, strategic business planning and leadership to support the development and growth of the Theatres & Anaesthetics Department. Leading the review of relevant strategies and service plans to underpin the strategic objectives of the services, and the Hospital.

Summary
To provide high-level operational and strategic
business planning and leadership to support the development and growth of the Theatres
& Anaesthetics Department. Leading the review of relevant strategies and
service plans to underpin the strategic objectives of the services, and the
Hospital.
To build relationships with key stakeholders to
support the delivery of Bupa Cromwell Hospitals strategy and acting as the key
link between services users and the hospital from both a quality and commercial
performance perspective.
To provide leadership, and continuing
improvement to the people, within the defined clinical areas, ensuring the
highest standards of patient care and service are delivered in an efficient and
effective way.
Role Responsibilities and Duties:
Leadership
Provide strong, and visible leadership in partnership
with the Clinical/Service Leads.
Engage and influence service users
(consultants), providing overarching relationship management between the
Hospital and key service users.
Lead by example, represent the Hospital and its
Strategy, values and Code amongst the service delivery teams, Team
Leaders/Heads of Department and Service Users.
Confidently hold briefings, committee meetings,
team meetings, aligning our people and services users with Hospital strategy
and service direction. Develop a wider
leadership team within the Directorate.
Drive
employee engagement and Service User and Patient Recommendation/Satisfaction
across the services.
Set profit generation and efficiency in
conjunction with the Financial Controller.
Review/develop the service strategies underpinned
by a business plan which will be led to deliver growth and profit generation. Working closely with service users,
evaluating service and maximising investment to delivery strong and sustainable
growth.
Own the performance of the Division, where
improvement requires cross functional activity, lead and co-ordinate this to
resolution.
Lead the establishment of conducive commercial
partnerships, represent the Division and/or wider Hospital services where
appropriate, supported by the Commercial lead and/or other functions.
Own
and maintain key performance measures for the services, which monitor key
outcomes, and demonstrate delivery of ambitious targets to continually improve
performance.
Create
strategies and execute them to continually drive improvements across all core
performance indicators.
Ensure that all staff working within the
service are clear about what is expected and are working together in successful
teams to achieve the hospitals vision.
Challenge existing practices, ensuring that
progressive solutions, which take into account models of best practice, are
incorporated into service and business growth plans.
Work closely with other Divisional/Directorate Managers,
Clinicians and support services in other parts of the hospital to ensure
delivery plans are compatible and to maximise opportunities for more efficient
ways of working.

Performance
Management
Ensure each Department within the service has
clearly defined performance objectives supported by a management regime to
deliver continuous improvement.
Further develop and implement effective
reporting arrangements in conjunction to accurately record and monitor performance
against defined KPIs and to pro-actively manage and resolve variances.
Fully understand the Divisions performance
across all KPIs/Metrics, recognising the key drivers, and taking action to
drive continuous improvement.
Maximise the opportunities that existing to increase
throughput, profitability and quality.
Work with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and
the Nursing Leadship to review the effectiveness of care pathways and to
identify and rectify any blockages to performance.
Provide regular reports on performance to the COO
as requested, with assurance that appropriate follow up actions will be
completed where necessary.
Governance
Establish a culture within the ward that ensures consistent
compliance with internal policy and external regulatory standards, through
monitoring and driving improvements on clinical indicators for nursing. Accountable for ensuring standards in respect of all
legislative requirements, including but not limited to CQC, HSE, DSE, Fire,
COSHH, BLS, IR(ME)R Manual Handling, Safeguarding Children & Adults,
Information Security, Infection Control and Blood Transfusion, are implemented
and adhered to Monitor nursing effectiveness / success via patient
satisfaction indicators, clinical incidents and complaints/compliments,
participate in investigations and take action to deliver improvements. Oversee clinical audits of the department and ensure actions
are taken to deliver improvements.Embed continued learning from incidents and complaints to
drive quality in careAttend relevant internal meetings to ensure nursing voice and
cascade of information In collaboration with the Clinical Directors and other
consultants maintain a robust clinical governance system to assure patients of
the highest standard of care acting within an assurance framework
People
Act as a role model to promote an
inclusive culture within the hospital Ensure systems are in place within
departments to identify poor performance, conduct issues and that any
individuals identified are appropriately supported and managed within local

direction of the service with strong levels of nursing staff engagement.

effective change culture within nursing, medical and multidisciplinary teams
Ensure the clinical voice is valued and heard across
the organisation through effective flow of communication
Manage team effectively, delegating appropriately
and holding staff to account for the delivery of specific objectives and
targets, maximising their performance through regular
performance coaching and review, reflective practice and ensuring staff meet
the required standards in their current job whilst developing their skills and
knowledge.
Assess needs and
provide relevant support, information, advice and counselling to staff where
appropriate
Undertake annual performance reviews of all direct report and establish
overall goals for the service.Work with the COO and CNO to build
a pipeline of talent that will sustain the performance of nursing services in
the future.Work closely with other members of
the senior clinical teams to deliver the successful implementation of key
initiatives as appropriate.
Work with the clinical education
team to promote the professional development of staff.
Ensure the faciliation of mandatory
training compliance across the division
Communication
To establish effective two-way channels of
communication within the service and service users.
Lead on relevant MDTs (multidisciplinary
meetings), and User Group meetings and communication channels.
Work closely with the Consultant relations
team, to support the relationship management of new and existing services users,
and to support engagement and on-boarding strategies and activities.
Establish excellent communication with other
managers in the hospital and the wider Bupa Group community to ensure that
services are integrated. Contributing
to the relevant hospital leadership forums.
Ensure that good practice is rapidly shared
within the service and wider organisation where appropriate.
Health
& Safety
Work closely with the Health & Safety
Advisor on all matters related to Health & Safety.
Be aware of, and conversant with, the Health
and Safety at Work Act and comply with the regulations set down to ensure
safety to patients, visitors and colleagues.
Record all accidents and untoward occurrences
according to Hospital policy.
Attend fire lectures and fire drills in
accordance with the law and to be fully aware of the position of fire alarms,
emergency equipment and exits.
Attend all mandatory training as required.
Infection Control
Infection
prevention and control is an essential aspect of patient care. All post holders have a personal obligation
to act to reduce Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAIs). They must attend mandatory training in
infection prevention and control and be compliant with all measures required by
the Hospital to reduce HCAIs. Post holders must be familiar with the Hospitals
Infection Control Policies, including those that apply to their duties, such as the Hand Hygiene Policy,
the Uniform Policy and Personal Protective Clothing Policy. Post holders who have clinical
responsibilities must incorporate into their clinical activities up-to-date
evidence that supports safe infection control practices and procedures, for example
the use of aseptic techniques and the safe disposal of sharps.

In the course of your normal work you will come
into possession of confidential information concerning patients, the Cromwell
and it staff. This information should be treated confidentially and in
accordance with the Cromwell Hospitals policy and the Data Protection Act
(1998) and European Union regulations.
