Job summary

We are seeking an inspiring, dynamic and authentic nursing leader with an ambitious approach to facilitating delivery of the very best patient experience and clinical outcomes to join the Medical Division at GHFT. This is a permanent opportunity responsible for transforming the way we think act and deliver services for the Medical Division.

The Divisional Director of Quality and Nursing will be an integral member of the Divisional leadership Team working alongside the Divisional Director of Operations and Chief of Service, who support the implementation of service improvement, delivery, and development plans, together with plans for on-site developments. There will be a strong emphasis on the need to develop a culture of performance management and delivery as a foundation for excellent organisational performance. Working closely with members of the divisional team and associated clinical staff in developing effective multi-disciplinary services they will help manage and co-ordinate the delivery of agreed performance indicators in relation to clinical outcomes, clinical efficiency and service line reporting.

The Divisional Director of Quality and Nursing will be responsible to the Chief of Service and professionally accountable to the Director of Quality and Chief Nurse.

Main duties of the job

Lead, inspire and develop the nursing workforce within the Division to deliver high quality, patient centered nursing care that meets the needs of the patient using highly specialist knowledge.

Responsible for the line management and professional standards of nursing within the division.

Along with the Chief of Service, Director of Operations will have shared accountability for the operational performance and strategic development of their Division.

Deliver visible leadership to nursing and care staff within the division in order to constantly improve the quality of nursing practice delivered to patients.

The post holder will ensure the Division has a comprehensive and progressive quality strategy and sufficiently robust systems of internal control in place, ensuring that the Trust consistently delivers on its vision.

Provide strategic nursing leadership in order to consistently develop high quality, safe and cost-effective nursing services for patients, the post holder is responsible for clinical risk and quality governance within the division and provides professional leadership to all staff within the division including developing the clinical leadership capability.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (NMC register)
  • United Kingdom recognised Degree in Nursing
  • Masters Level Study
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of professional portfolio and registration revalidation

Experience

Essential

  • Experience (through placement or employment) of working in an acute clinical environment

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a relevant speciality
  • Experience of nursing ward accreditation programmes and ANCC's Pathway to Excellence
