Applications are invited for the post of Endometriosis Surgical Fellow (Senior Registrar Level) in Gynaecology and Obstetrics.
This post is a new 6-month fixed term post with exciting opportunity for trainees in Obstetrics and Gynaecology who have an interest in minimal access surgery and advanced gynaecological surgery for benign disease as well as a desire to develop their surgical skills in benign gynaecology. This is a new post created to facilitate training and provide service in benign Gynaecology due to increasing theatre capacity. The Trainee will have the opportunity to acquire competencies aligned to the ATSM/SITM in benign gynaecology and advanced excision of benign disease. They will develop a range of operative skills in open and minimal invasive surgery as well as train in advanced surgical excision of endometriosis.
A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive equal consideration. If such a candidate is appointed the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with consultant colleagues and local management.

Main duties of the job
The appointment is to the Trust, not to specific hospitals.
The appointee will have fixed theatre sessions and fixed gynaecology clinics during the week, attached to the endometriosis service. Weekdays will be protected for gynaecology clinical activity (theatres and clinics) during the normal working week. It is expected that the appointee will undertake advanced surgical training during their time in post. The clinical duties will be as required by the directorate but are likely to be within the benign gynaecology services- endometriosis, benign gynaecology, menstrual disorders, & paediatric and adolescent gynecology. Appointee is expected to undertake active participation in clinical audit, research, quality, clinical guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal and risk management.

Participation in the senior registrar on-call rota for Obstetrics and Gynaecology (1 in 9) is expected.
