An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Access to Mental Wellbeing Service for pro-active and enthusiastic Band 5 Clinicians.

The Access to Mental Wellbeing Service receives mental health referrals for the York and Selby locality and provides initial assessments and Brief Interventions for a range of common mental health conditions. The team has close links with primary care, third sector and partner agencies and is developing joint provision of interventions with these agencies.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 5 clinician the successful applicants will be involved delivering high quality brief interventions for a range of common mental health conditions. The clinician will provide up to 6 sessions of focused intervention in both a 1:1 and group setting for the following mental health difficulties.

The successful candidate will work as part of the Multidisciplinary Team, attending daily MDT meetings. They will also be required to liaise with internal and external stakeholders including Crisis Team, Community Mental Health Teams, GP's and specialist services.

There is a strong focus on professional development and the service offers training to support the delivery of evidence-based interventions. The successful candidate will contribute to service development including being involved in ongoing reviews of the Brief Intervention pathways.

About us

The Access to Mental Wellbeing Team is an expanding and developing service. As such, the successful candidate will work alongside the Leadership Team to further develop the range of therapeutic interventions offered by the service. This includes supporting the development and review of frameworks of interventions for common mental health issues that can be provided as a brief intervention both on an individual and group basis.

The successful applicant will be pro-active, have good organisational skills and be committed to providing high quality mental health services within the community.

The service hours are Monday to Friday, 08.00 -19.00 hours. The post holder will work 37.5 hours over a 4 day working week.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current professional registration with an approved professional body
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • For registered nurses: MIP, FLIP, ENB 998 Teaching & Assessing in Clinical Practice or City & Guilds 730 Teaching in Adult Education or willingness to work towards. Qualification must be achieved within agreed timescale.
  • Trained Clinical Supervisor (within agreed timescale)
  • Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)

Desirable

  • Post-graduate qualification in a relevant area

Experience

Essential

  • Working with people with mental ill health

Desirable

  • Working in a person centred therapeutic organisation
  • Working in a community setting
  • Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers
  • Working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Working in partnership with other agencies

Knowledge

Essential

  • Evidenced based knowledge of best practice in caring for patients in the designated field.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act).
  • Understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice
  • Awareness of psychological models of care and treatment.

Skills

Essential

  • Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers/families and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Manage own time and prioritise effectively
