Band 5 Maternity cover in Sexual Health - Fixed Term
An exciting opportunity has arrived in Swindon.
Swindon Sexual Health is looking for an enthusiastic Registered Nurse, who is willing to undertake maternity cover.
We are a small team that consists of a close working multidisciplinary team- Drs, Nurses, Health Advisers, Heath Care Assistants, and Reception staff.
The successful candidate will complement our highly motivated community team.
You will demonstrate evidence of well-developed clinical practice, excellent communication/interpersonal skills, be innovative and enthusiastic to meet the challenge of this expanded role.
Flexibility will be key to this role, as cover will be required across our sites. You will need to be available to work evenings and Saturdays as required.
Main duties of the job
- To carry out assessments of patients symptoms and concerns to ensure that patientsare seen appropriately and within clinic guidelines
- To undertake venipuncture and administration of Vaccines once competency has been achieved
- To undertake the treatments of genital warts once relevant training has been completed
- To undertake screening asymptomatic patients once relevant training has been completed
- To set up and close clinical rooms appropriately at the beginning and end of each clinical session
- To keep all clinical and storage areas tidy, clean and restock as necessary
- To maintain all records both electronically and written accurately and clearly

- To communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure best possible care for patients
- To supervise junior members of staff with training and maintaining standards of patient care
- To contribute to improving risk management with in the service
- To be able to manage the clinic effectively, if required , in the absence of a senior member of the nursing team
- To work across the different sites within the integrated service

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Practitioner
- Some post graduate experience
- Evidence of maintaining CPD
Desirable
- Previous Sexual Health experience
- Evidence of DFSRH or willingness to undertake
- Evidence of STIF course or willingness to undertake

- Evidence of continuing professional development and a willingness to complete the required training

- Some experience of Sexual Health
- Attendance of the Sexually Transmitted Infection Foundation Course (STIF)
