Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Specialist School Nursing Team in Redbridge. We are looking for an enthusiastic and qualified Children's Nurse to join our friendly team as a Specialist School Nurse.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, young people and their families, who have complex health needs and would like to expand their knowledge within this speciality. The post holder will be supported by our well established multi-disciplinary team, working closely with the MDT to support children and young people with complex health needs.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the job include, but are not limited, to the follow:

1. Ensuring that the Specialist School Nursing Team delivers a service according to the outcomes of the every child matters agenda in order to improve health outcomes for children and achieve Redbridge's key targets

2. Assessment of individual children in preparation of the development of Management of care plans for use in school.

3. Demonstrate specialist skills by critically analysing, assessing and managing the health needs of complex family situations and safeguarding to reduce health inequalities

4. To highlight the changing needs of the population through health profiling and manage the delivery of the Specialist School Nursing Service as required to meet the changes

Qualifications

Essential

  • Holds current NMC UK registration
  • Registered Children's Nurse - Child Branch

Desirable

  • Specialist Community Public Health Nurse - School Nursing

Experience

Essential

  • 2 years minimum, post registration experience of acute paediatrics
  • Evidence of working with Children and Young People with additional/complex health needs

Desirable

  • Working within the community setting, within a school nursing team or Children's Setting

Skills

Essential

  • Basic awareness of IT and IT skills
  • Evidence of working on own initiative and prioritising own workload
  • Ability to travel to a variety of sites
