Job summary

An exciting and challenging position has arisen for Level 3 Apprenticeships in Multi Skilled Engineering (note as this is a Multi Skilled apprenticeship you will study and work both electrical and mechanical aspects) within The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Support service installations and their maintenance are an essential part of the NHS and form a vital link in Health Care Provision. The precise details of any of the apprenticeship are dependent on a number of factors that may be subject to change at various stages of the training and qualifications already obtained, however, the information below will provide an overview of the envisaged training requirements of the apprenticeship.

The apprentice will attend a college (Sunderland) to study for the technical knowledge aspect of the apprenticeship for example one day / evening a week for the first two years and practical basic skills training as a block release. Once this has been achieved, the apprentice will then commence training towards their End Point Assessment for their full Apprenticeship Standard, which will take place within The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Sunderland College.

Main duties of the job

You will need to be able to meet all the eligibility requirements as prescribed by the apprenticeship criteria to undertake the role

To be eligible for an apprenticeship you must:

  • Have the right to work and remain in the UK.
  • Have lived in the UK for at least 3 years.
  • Provide evidence of required English and maths qualifications.

Further information:

  • You will not be considered if you have an equivalent or higher qualification in the same or a very similar subject.
  • You must not be engaged in any other funded training or education programme.
  • We cannot sponsor applicants during or on successful completion of the apprenticeship so please ensure you meet visa status eligibility.

The apprenticeship will begin during the week commencing 27th August 2024 subject to all necessary funding and employment checks being carried out, including a colour blindness test. Qualifications acceptable on entry are a minimum of GCSE at Grade 5 or above in Mathematics and English or equivalent, and at least 4 other subjects to include a science-based subject.

Essential

  • Minimum Grade B / 5 GCSE or equivalent in Mathematics
