Job summary

We currently require a suitably qualified person to join the team of Sonographers in our busy Ultrasound department. The service is located within Radiology at Withybush General Hospital in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire. We perform a wide range of Ultrasound investigations and have recently replaced all the ultrasound systems for new. There are opportunities for role extension for the right candidate.

Applicants must be a Registered Health Professional with an appropriate post graduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound and evidence of relevant experience. There may be a requirement to work flexible hours to meet service demands.

Main duties of the job

You must possess excellent communication skills, be tactful, diplomatic and able to work as part of a team in this busy department. In addition you may be involved in the supervision of student radiographers.

Withybush Hospital is the main healthcare provider for the population of Pembrokeshire, providing a wide range of clinical and Accident / Emergency services.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent diploma
  • Case Accredited post graduate certificate or diploma at masters level in Ultrasound
  • HCPC, RCT or registration with relevant professional body eg:NMC, RCN, RCM
  • Sound Professional knowledge of imaging modalities (Eg ANC/TV scanning, Non-obstetric scanning)
  • Evidence of current CPD portfolio

Desirable

  • Highly specialist training in aspects of ultrasound
  • Developed knowledge of a specialised ultrasound imaging e.g. Small parts or vascular

Experience

Essential

  • Post registration professional experience in a diagnostic ultrasound imaging

Desirable

  • Experience of specialist ultrasound imaging techniques
  • Experience with digital/PACS enabled ultrasound equipment.

Other

Essential

  • Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner
  • Flexible approach to needs of the service

Desirable

  • Willing to participate in out-of-hours working
