DR Bello is looking for a part time experienced General Practice Nurse to work along side our highly experienced practice nurse already in post, to provide a high quality nursing service to it's practice population combined of 4000+

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

Provides health screening and general nursing to the practice population

  • Develops own caseload in conjunction with the GP
  • Works autonomously, but with support from GP
  • Develops, implements and evaluates health promotion clinics including specialists clinics i.e. Diabetes, Asthma, Well-women, Travel Health, Cervical Cytology, Heart Disease Management and Prevention, Baby Clinics (including all appropriate immunisations) and others
  • Maintains chronic disease registers
  • To review patients within population manager to meet Q.O.F. targets
  • Responsible for the review and implementation of Infection Control Measures
  • Contribute to the review and development of Practice Protocols
  • Develops and evaluates standards of nursing care
  • Undertake clinical audits
  • Co-ordinates the annual influenza programme
  • Vaccination and immunisations
  • Phlebotomy
  • Mentor others where appropriate
  • Undertake training to maintain/and improve standards of care
  • Continual Professional Development
  • Excellent communication and I.T. skills
  • Data inputting accurate information to patient records
  • Provides health screening and general nursing to the practice population

About us

Dr Bello is a single handed GP, and he looking for an experienced enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our friendly team. He had 2 practice sites, this post will be for King Street patients mainly, however cover will be required for holiday and sickness to cover the other site as and when needed.

Essential Knowledge, Training & Experience

First level registered nurse

Relevant first level degree

Relevant postgraduate study

Significant recent post registration clinical experience

Experience and in depth knowledge of long term condition management and the complex needs of patients and their carer’s

Cervical Cytology sample taking

Administration of childhood Immunisations

Experience of working autonomously

Case management skills

Experience and understanding of non-cancer palliative care

Understanding and experience of use and implementation of clinical guidelines, standards, protocols and care pathways

IT skills

Qualifications

Essential

  • Essential criteria required is:
  • Experience of working in a General Practice setting previously or currently
  • Registered Nurse Post Graduate Diploma or Degree in Chronic Disease Management.
  • Essential experience in chronic disease management including, smear sample taking, COPD reviews including spirometry, Asthma reviews for adults and children, vaccinating babies and adults, the duties are varied

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a primary care setting
  • Experience of working independently and within a team
  • Being highly organised, flexible and able to prioritise effectively will be vital. A good nurse is also highly observant, able to assess patients and take responsibility for determining the best course of action.
  • This is an important role looking after patients in our community

Experience

Essential

  • Recent experience of working in general practice as part of a team and being able to work on own initiative.
  • Essential experience in chronic disease management as listed above.
  • Essential excellent communication skills, whether it be over the telephone or face to face.
  • Must be IT literate
  • Organised

Desirable

  • Working with EMIS WEB is desirable however training can be given
  • Surgery connect telephone system
  • working in a treatment room, changing dressings, wound care
  • Knowledge of contraception
