Job summary

We are looking for passionate and committed Registered Nurse Practioner to join our established and friendly nursing team at Glastonbury Surgery. The role offers the opportunity to work across a diverse clinical portfolio and deliver high quality care in a modern, forward thinking and structured environment.

We would be interested in someone that has either graduated from a Centre for Advancing Practice accredited MSc advanced practice programme or completed the Centres ePortfolio (supported) Route.

The successful candidate will be supported with a comprehensive and tailored induction plan, with a commitment to ongoing training and development that is tailored to meet the needs and aspirations of the individual. This is an ideal role for a newly qualified or experienced Nurse Practitioner to start or continue their career working in General Practice.

Job Title:Nurse Practitioner

Location:Glastonbury Surgery

Salary:£48,200 - £51,200 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours:37 hours per week - part-time job shared considered

Accountable to:GP Partners

Job Purpose

Work as part of a team to offer a high standard of evidence-based care to patients, including health promotion, treatment, screening, and disease management.

Clinical Governance and Professional Responsibilities

  • Take appropriate action to the significance of the risk and consistent with protection procedures, applying protection procedures, following lone worker procedures.
  • Report all accidents / incidents, and all ill health, failings in equipment and / or environment to line managers.
  • Contribute towards audit and data collection as required.
  • Adhere to organisational policies and procedures, including confidentiality, safeguarding, lone working, information governance, and health and safety.
  • Ensure that all patient information following consultations, registration, and/or including telephone encounters are recorded accurately on the computer, using EMIS and SNOMED codes as appropriate.
  • Processing clinical and administrative tasks/results/paperwork.
  • Attend and participate in practice meetings, including practice nurse meetings.
  • Assist in the continual review of practice philosophy, strategy and policy.
  • To participate in the formulation of practice protocols in conjunction with NHS England and local commissioners.

Personal and Profession Development

  • Maintain lifelong learning by attending formal and informal educational courses and study days. Undertake a personal commitment to support lifelong learning by updating through relevant books and journals and the retainment of a reflective diary/professional portfolio.
  • Maintain a record of Continuing Professional Development for Mandatory re-validation purposes.
  • To have either successfully complete the Extended Nurse Prescribing course or demonstrate an intention of doing so.

  • Produce accurate, contemporaneous and complete records of patient consultation, consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.

Research

  • Co-operate and support research undertaken by the Practice including the referral of suitable patients who may benefit as participants in research programmes.

Education and Training of Students and Practice Staff

Participate in the induction, education and training of all new members of practice staff including medical students and GP registrars.

Liaison

Maintain effective liaison with other health care teams concerned with patient care as appropriate and with all other disciplines within the practice, always exercising regard for patient confidentiality.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • 1 year minimum triage/minor illness work, A&E or as an Emergency Care Practitioner

Desirable

  • Leadership experience
  • 2 years minimum triage work or A&E
  • Experience of telephone triage
  • Previous Primary Care experience
  • Family Planning Experience

Qualifications

Essential

  • Membership of a professional body with unrestricted registration e.g. RCN or equivalent
  • BSc (Hons) or equivalent: Nurse Practitioner Degree (2year programme) or BSc in Emergency Care
  • Completed a minor ailment and injury module at BSc/Msc level
  • Evidence of PREP
  • Independent Nurse Prescriber
