An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacist to join our dynamic Clinical Pharmacy team at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust (STSFT) as Divisional Lead Pharmacist for Family Care and Community Services.

As a Divisional Lead Pharmacist, you will support the Chief Pharmacist and Associate Chief Pharmacist in leading the provision, management and strategic development of high quality, innovative and effective clinical pharmacy service within Family Care and Community in line with objectives and resources agreed.You will co-ordinate the work of the Directorate Lead and Advanced Practitioner Pharmacists within their Divisions ensuring the effective delivery of the Clinical Pharmacy service, governance and safety, patient care, financial and health economy wide objectives.

The post holder is responsible to the Associate Chief Pharmacist for Clinical Services for the provision of expert advice in clinical pharmacy service delivery to the Divisional Directors, Clinical Directors, CG Leads and Divisional Finance Managers.

Main duties of the job

As a Divisional Lead Pharmacist for Family Care and Community Services, you will be responsible for the provision of a high-quality patient focused clinical pharmacy serviceto Maternity Services, Paediatrics, Neonates and Community Servicesthroughout the Trust.You will work with Divisional Lead Pharmacist colleagues to further develop and lead the well respected and established Clinical Pharmacy Service ensuring consistent Trust wide deliveryin line with the Trust's Clinical Governance agenda.

You will have evidence of significant experience as a senior hospital pharmacist within the NHS, with experience of strategically developing pharmacy services and delivering transformational change. You will demonstrate experience of successful management of large groups of staff, evidence of leadership skills, business planning, service innovation, critical thinking and successful change.You will be responsible for ensuring within the Directorates the team are identifying new developments and horizon scanning to assist divisions in service planning along with delivering efficiency savings and cost improvement plans across your sphere of responsibility.

You will have a post-graduate qualification to diploma level and well-developed clinical pharmacy skills preferably with an independent prescribing qualification.

The Pharmacy Service operates a seven day Clinical Pharmacy Service with routine support of both junior pharmacists and integrated medicines management technicians.

The Divisional Lead supports the Chief Pharmacist and Associate Chief Pharmacists in leading the provision, management and strategic development of high quality, innovative and effective clinical pharmacy services within a Clinical Division in line with the objectives and resources agreed. They will co-ordinate the work of the Directorate Lead and Advanced Practitioner pharmacists within their Divisional ensuring the meet the pharmacy service delivery, governance and safety, patient care, financial and health economy wide objectives. The postholder may be required to cover more than one Division, undertake a lead role in relation to Pharmaceutical Education and/or undertake the Directorate CG Role. Responsibilities can be adjusted in line with the postholders contracted hours with the support of other pharmacists or through provision of a direct patient care role.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • MPharm [Masters degree] or equivalent Batchelors degree
  • Registered Pharmacist with General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Post graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy

Desirable

  • Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Research Qualification
  • Independent prescribing qualification

Physical Skills

  • Must be able to meet the travel requirements of the post
