Job summary

This post is Fixed Term for 6 months Until 31/03/2025 to cover secondment.

We are looking for a highly motivated nurse, allied health professional or practitioner with significant experience in the field of safeguarding and proven leadership ability who can evidence impact at a strategic level.

As a senior health professional you will have current NMC/AHP/professional registration. You will also have a post graduate qualification at Masters Level or evidence of equivalent professional experience in a relevant field.

You will have excellent communication and reporting writing skills with the ability to work flexibly as part of a team.

Main duties of the job

The National Safeguarding Service, NHS Wales (NSS) is the national service provider of professional and NHS system leadership across the spectrum of safeguarding children and adults at risk. The NSS provides a unique function, ideally positioned to give a strategic national focus for NHS Wales providing objectivity, whilst being an enabler for improved quality and the reduction of variation across Wales in relation to safeguarding. The NSS facilitates collaboration in order to coproduce the delivery of nationally agreed strategic approaches and objectives to safeguard children and adults at risk within Wales, specifically in the context of NHS Wales.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified Professional with current NMC registration; or other appropriate professional regulatory body pertaining to other registered allied health professionals.
  • Master's degree in relevant subject; or evidence of relevant and related experience deemed equivalent to Master's level qualification.
  • Specialist qualification in safeguarding and public protection or demonstrable equivalent experience.

Desirable

  • Teaching Qualification. Management Qualification. Other Post Graduate Qualification relevant to safeguarding. Further Academic Award. Leadership development

Experience

Essential

  • Substantial recent experience working at a senior management strategic level in Safeguarding and Public Protection within a healthcare setting.
  • Experience of contributing towards practice or policy developments at regional or national level.
  • Substantial experience in service improvement
  • Evidence of strategic leadership in safeguarding
  • Development of Standards of Practice.
  • Extensive experience working within Community Child Health/Vulnerable Groups

Desirable

  • Experience of carrying out research and / or working in an academic department and development of practice
  • Experience of working in partnership initiatives.

  • Ability to demonstrate highly developed specialist knowledge across the life course of safeguarding and public protection

  • Able to convey a clear understanding of the concept of multi-agency working and to recognise potential barriers.
  • Clear understanding and working knowledge of governance frameworks which support the delivery of safeguarding services
