An opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Speech & Language Therapist to join our supportive and friendly community team.
The job entails seeing a wide range of interesting presentations from MND, FND and MS in picturesque domiciliary locations and or outpatient settings.
The team has excellent liasion with key MDTs, the University of Essex and Colchester Acute SALT team. The team promotes service improvement, CPD and supervision.
We have some interesting projects underway including the promotion of patient education videos on YouTube and are forward thinking in our service delivery. Part time hours could be considered for the right candidate
Main duties of the job
Assessment and Management of communication and or swallowing impairments and liaison with GPs, MDTs and Third Sector organisations.
Assessment and provision of AAC and liaison with regional hub
Clinical Supervision of junior staff
Clinical educator for students

Qualifications
Essential
- oRecognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree qualification or equivalent
- oHealth Professions Council - Licence to Practice and current registration
- oRegistered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (R.C.S.L.T.)
- oEvidence of reaching recognised post graduate dysphagia competency and or equivalent experiential competence
Desirable
- oMembership of relevant Special Interest Groups (SIGs) Acquired service)
Knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge of neurological disease
- oIn depth knowledge of a range of therapeutic interventions relevant to the care group particularly in relation to community dysphagia
Desirable
- Awareness of MND, PD, MS, HC
Experience
Essential
- Knowledge of community services
- Proven post graduate experience within care group
- Broad range of experience in a variety of disorders prior to specialisation
Desirable
- Awareness of constraints to working in community locations
