Job summary

We are recruiting for Head of Nursing for Integrated Surgical Services (ISSG). You should share our passion and drive to ensure that our patients receive quality and compassionate care and work with us to ensure the Health Board provides great quality of care for our patients.

The Head of Nursing for ISSG is a great opportunity for a senior nursing leader with relevant experience to consider. Our ISSG division consists General surgery, Vascular, ALAC, Surgical Admissions Unit, Head and Neck, Urology, Trauma and Orthopaedics and HSDU.

The ISSG Head of Nursing post sits within the ISSG division, and works within an MDT model. The Head of Nursing is part of the ISSG leadership triumphant.

The Head of Nursing is responsible for the leadership and management of nursing within ISSG. They have joint responsibility for the effective delivery of quality, financial and operational performance of the service line including ownership of key clinical quality performance targets and measures for the service.

Job responsibilities

You will support the teams in the transformation agenda in redesigning models of care and patient pathways to provide the best possible care and outcome for our patients.

Provide day to day operational management of nursing clinical services, liaising effectively with all internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that service planning and operational activity satisfy the requirements of governance.

On a day-to-day basis, you will have professional line management, supervision responsibilities and over sight of the wellbeing of Matrons, Clinical nurse Specialist and other healthcare professionals and their teams ensuring support, professional growth and leadership development are provided for all the staff.

Qualifications & Knowledge

  • Appropriate registration with the NMC.
  • Masters degree or equivalent experience. Evidence of post registration qualifications Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Knowledge and experience of implementing clinical governance strategies and risk management.

Experience

Essential

  • A demonstrable track record of achievement in a senior nursing management position within the NHS.
  • Evidence of significant experience in line management of staff.
  • Experience of financial management, budget setting, monitoring and determining corrective action.
  • Ability to establish partnership working with stakeholders - internal and external to the Trust.
  • Excellent and well developed communication skills gained through experience of managing complex management issues.
  • Excellent presentational and influencing skills to engage clinicians and colleagues.
  • Full range of IT skills.
  • Skills and experience in leading on significant service improvement
