Job summary
This post is for multiple positions within main Outpatients. The successful candidates will be required to working flexibly over 7 days covering evenings & weekends in the near future although we currently work Monday - Friday.
The post-holder/s will be responsible for direct clinical care for individual patients and groups of patients within their area of work.
The post holder will be responsible for running clinics efficiently and ensuring patients have a positive experience within our OPD department.
Although this post will be based in Outpatients, it will be primarily located in Main Outpatients & Cauldwell OPD areas; you will be expected to rotate to other OPD areas to support other specialties if required to meet the needs of the service. The post holder will be required to work flexible working times including evenings and weekends. Set days of working will not be authorised due to the flexibility of the service.

Main duties of the job
This post will be based in main Outpatients however, may involve rotation to other OPD areas.
You will be joining a team of both qualified nurses and clinical support workers who work in all 3 key areas which specialise in all specialities i.e. medicine, surgery, breast, colorectal etc.
You will be expected to have excellent communication skills and be able to prioritise your workload.
You will be responsible for the day to day coordination and management a clinic/s ensuring patients receive a gold standard service.
You will be expected to work with the department manager and nursing team to develop and promote best nursing practice.
To coordinate the day-to-day running of clinics, assisting and supporting team members in all OPD areas.
To be able to prepare clinical areas for clinics including clinics primarily in main Outpatients but to also be aware of other departments areas where rotation maybe required i.e, ENT, cardiology & Oral Maxilla facial areas and have an awareness and competence of the decontamination procedures and policies.
To be able to assist the clinicians in undertaking sterile procedures including minor procedure clinics, fine needle biopsies, core biopsies, and nasal endoscopes.
To be aware of and take responsibility for the appropriate and safe storage of substances hazardous to health i.e. formalin and liquid nitrogen.
