Job summary

The Trust provides acute hospital services from two large district general hospitals, Cheltenham General Hospital and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. Gloucestershire Hospitals is the major provider of secondary care services in the area.

Ward 2B is very proud of the service we provide. We specialise in Head and Neck. We aim to maintain high quality care by continuing to employ motivated and enthusiastic healthcare assistants who will work alongside the multi-disciplinary team to contribute to the delivery of care to acutely ill patients and their families.

Working on 2B is interesting, challenging and rewarding where there is always an opportunity to enhance knowledge and clinical skills, as well as deliver fundamental aspects of nursing care.

Main duties of the job

While it is desirable that candidates have at least 6-12 months recent care experience, is not essential, and training can absolutely be provided for the right candidates, so if you have the qualities we're looking for and share our values, please do still apply. You will play an essential role in supporting the delivery of the highest standard of quality care to our patients, working alongside registered nurses and other healthcare professionals. Your role will include a wide range of tasks, from providing personal care to undertaking clinical observations.

The Head and Neck service of Gloucestershire NHS Foundation Trust includes Ward 2B, in patient ward, ENT OPD, OMF OPD and Head and Neck Clinical Nurse Specialist. Ward 2B cares for a variety of surgical patients under the service of ENT and OMF.

Job responsibilities

- Working within the multidisciplinary team supporting the delivery of high quality care

- To adhere to all Trust policies and procedures.

- To communicate effectively, especially where patient ability to do so is restricted.

- Maintain discretion and understanding of confidentiality and data protection.

- Support individuals with all aspects of care including daily living, providing person-centred care

- Perform and record clinical observations

- Accurately record nutritional and fluid intake.

- Ensure the privacy, dignity and safety of individuals is maintained at all times.

- Recognise issues relating to safeguarding vulnerable children and adults and report any problems or raise concerns to the nurse in charge.

  • Previous Healthcare Assistant acute NHS experience
  • Previous experience in relevant specialty
