Job summary

This is a key role in an exciting project with significant deliverables across the acute Trusts of the West Midlands. If you are a project manager who likes to "get things done", have strong people skills with digital procurement and implementation experience, this could be the role for you.

Over the next 5 years, the West Midlands Imaging Network (WMIN) will define, procure, and implement a Converged Digital Imaging Platform (PACS and RIS functionality) for participating Trusts. We are currently at the business case and specification stage and expect to reach contract signatures within 12 months before embarking on a phased implementation with Trusts.

There are also requirements to deliver Business Intelligence for imaging, shared AI deployments and related digital innovations.

As well as direct applications for this role, secondment applications, particularly from Trusts of the West Midlands are encouraged.

Main duties of the job

The post holder's primary duties will be to provide clear programme management of the digital element of the West Midlands Imaging Network strategy.To support the Network Programme Director in the day-to-day running of the network as well as taking the lead on key programmes of work.The primary focus of this role will be those programmes that support the work of the network within its digital programme.The post holder will also have a clear and comprehensive understanding of the networks other programmes and be able to deputise for the Network Programme Director as required.This is a West Midlands post. There will be an expectation of some home working combined with an office base (if required) with location to be agreed. There will be travel around the region and potentially to national locations such as London and Leeds for national meetings or workshops.

As an integral part of the network team, working with the Network Programme Director, Medical Director and Digital Clinical Lead, the role exists to provide support and programme management to the development and delivery of the networks digital programme which is linked to the recommendations of the Long-term Plan for the NHS, the National Strategy for imaging networks, and the Richards review of Diagnostic Services.Responsibility will be the delivery of elements of the network strategy and digital work programme by working collaboratively with local partners to successfully lead and manage key programmes.Running day to day programmes, the role requires strong line and team management skills, and a keen understanding of essential NHS areas such as Digital integration, Quality Improvement, Clinical Governance, and IT. A strong grasp of brand and the importance of communications will also be key.You will be comfortable with complex and strategic engagement and negotiation with NHS senior directors, managers, and clinicians, as well as other external stakeholders from across the sector. The postholder will act as an ambassador for the network representing the organisation at meetings and events andable to communicate the network values and visionLead multiple significant projects within the programme ensuring they are planned, managed, and evaluated in a timely and effective way to ensure high quality of delivery across their portfolio of projectsHave considerable flexibility and autonomy in taking forward network programmes of work within the parameters and the scope of the overall piece of workCurrent Key Digital Programmes include Business Intelligence to support stakeholder and network decision making and programme development. Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to Masters level or appropriate technical or management qualifications / or working towards.
  • Project Management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2), and familiarity with work package systems.
  • Programme/Project Manager qualification (e.g. MSP) or similar/working towards.

Experience Skills

Essential

  • Significant experience of managing project teams & staff (including clinicians)
  • Experience of managing information systems and IT
  • Extensive proven managerial experience
  • Specialist knowledge of managing complex DTS projects and programmes throughout complex multi-site organisations
  • Implementation of national initiatives at local level
  • Experience of managing complex workloads and prioritisation

Desirable

  • Proven experience and knowledge within a Health Informatics environment including the Digital and Paperless agenda
  • Knowledge or understanding of Imaging and associated clinical specialties

Communication Skills

Essential

  • Significant experience of communication with clinical or other subject matter expert teams.
  • Able to relate technical information to non-technical people
  • Ability to liaise with staff at all levels (clinical, management and administrative staff) both verbally and written
