Job summary

This is a specialty doctor post in paediatric dermatology, crucial for overseeing the treatment of complex vascular patients on the immunosuppressive medications. Additionally, the holder of this post does general dermatology and mosaic clinics, providing comprehensive care for a complex paediatric dermatology patients.

Within the directorate's strategic plan, this role is essential for maintaining highly specialised care for complex patients, supporting the objective of delivering high-quality, tailored treatments.

6 Months maternity cover.

Main duties of the job

The Pediatrics Dermatology Department provides an in-patient, day case, ambulatory and out-patient diagnostic and treatment service to children with severe and / or rare disorders involving the skin. Short and long stay patients are currently cared for on Pelican Ward. Out-patient clinics take place every weekday.

Special areas of expertise within the department include the management of children with complex vascular anomalies, congenital melanocytic naevi, other mosaic disorders, morphea, epidermolysis bullosa, severe eczema and psoriasis. The department has a very large vascular laser treatment program carrying out approximately 700 treatments per year.

The department has close working links with the departments of plastic surgery, ophthalmology, interventional radiology, rheumatology, psychology, hematology, and oncology, and has monthly histopathology MDT, monthly neurovascular MDT, monthly genetics MDT, quarterly mosaic disorders MDT and a monthly vascular anomalies MDT.

Academic/Professional qualification/Training
