We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic matron with a wealth of nursing experience and an in-depth understanding of the delivery of safe, high-quality care. The successful candidate will be pivotal in the delivery of high-quality care and improvements within the Urgent Care & Access Pathway.
The matron will have overall responsibility for the delivery of high quality, responsive, safe and effective care that delivers improved patient outcomes and an excellent patient experience. The post holder will be visible and accessible and provide advice and leadership to the professional nursing and quality agenda throughout our services.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of care is provided, monitoring achievement of standards and supporting staff to deliver care with respect and compassion.
We are looking for a confident and compassionate nurse leader with commitment to the Trusts values. The matron will proactively promote professional standards and act as a positive role model for all registered nurses.
A key element of the role will be supporting the clinical design of services following our successful Step Up to Great consultation.
The role also incorporates professional development of the nursing teams, so strong leadership skills are essential. Qualifications
Essential
- Registered MH/LD Nurse Level 1 Masters degree or equivalent experience.
- Post registration Qualification.
- Evidence of continuing professional development within the last 12 months.
- Hold an NMC approved mentoring qualification.
- Leadership or Management qualification or willingness to work towards.
Desirable
- Specialist Practitioner qualification.
Experience
Essential
- Significant post registration experience as a senior nurse in relevant area of practice.
- Demonstrates motivation and commitment to providing high quality patient centred nursing care.
