Main duties of the job

To assist in the provision of high quality Radiographic Service within Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust, whilst complying with all Trust and Department policies and procedures.

To carry out all radiographic techniques and examinations to a consistently high standard, professionally and efficiently following department procedures.

The role is to provide high standards of care to patients accessing our services. You will need to embrace our trust values, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and have a flexible approach to your work.

Job responsibilities

BSc. Radiography or equivalent.

HPC Registration

To demonstrate competency in general radiology and fluoroscopy Opinion slip completion of trauma image interpretation to assist junior medical staff and ENP nurses

Must have evidence of on going CPD.

Must demonstrate competence and confidence in working single handed and be able to problem solve.

Knowledge and understanding of Trust and department policies and procedures

Good communication and Interpersonal skills, ability to interact within a multidisciplinary team.

Assess and organise own workload of patients and maintain associated records.

Check patients details on request card and using clinical knowledge verify information and justify examination in accordance with IR(ME)R .

To assist in organising the day to day duties of the radiography helper staff.

To be proficient in the use of department computer system and PACS after a short period of induction.

Must be capable to work unsupervised and single handed when required.

Supervise Assistant Practitioners, helpers and student Radiographers and verify examinations and checking the work carried out by them.

Ability to communicate with all patients including patients who may have difficulty in understanding or where English is not the first language.
