Job summary

The lead for Educational Governance is an exciting, fixed term role leading on reviewing practices and implementing governance of education within Education and Development Services, Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The post-holder will be required to develop and maintain strong, productive working relationships across our Trust and with our education partners, being a visible and accessible presence.

Main duties of the job

The role exists to ensure that high quality, up-to-date, and research led education and training is being delivered by our educators to our non-medical workforce across all professions, enabling them to deliver our vision of providing Best Care for Everyone, achieve our strategic People and OD objectives and ensure GHFT leads on the delivery of the Long-Term Plan.

To lead on the introduction and review of standards, processes and reporting structures to improve educational governance within Education and Development Services, supporting educators to deliver high quality teaching for our staff.

The post-holder will continue to build on the current work being undertaken to design and implement an Educators development pathway, working collaboratively with our educators, Head of Professional Education, Associate Director of Education and Development, and HEIs.

To contribute to the implementation of a neurodiversity paradigm, working collaboratively with colleagues in Education, Learning and Culture ensuring that neurodiversity is understood, recognised and supported within Education, Learning and Development.

To oversee the design and implementation of processes to assess and support Readiness to Learn within Education, Learning and Development.

Job responsibilities

Key Deliverables

Lead the implementation and evaluation of educational governance for the organisation, in line with the People and Organisational Development Strategy: Caring for those who care and supporting the enabling pillars.

Audit, review and evaluate education activity that supports Trust Strategic objectives and aligns to the continuing transformation of GHFT and its services

Work with The Associate Director of Education and Development and Senior Education and Development Service Team to lead on establishing educational governance within GHFT.

Ensure that educator development is complimentary to improving education quality and governance.

Act as an authoritative resource for The Associate Director of Education and Development, Head of Professional Education, wider education teams and educators, and HEI to implement an Educators Development Pathway.

In line with the Safer Learning Environment Charter, contribute to the development of a learning organisation and Best Care for Everyone through appropriate Education and Development interventions that enable safe, compassionate care and personal and organisational growth.

Contribute to GHFT reporting and recording processes through Board/Committee papers and regular data returns, establishing respective groups and/or forums to ensure appropriate channels for review.

Ensure the continual improvement of Education, Learning and Development through engagement with research; introducing, developing and evaluating service delivery processes and methods using NHS Digital toolkit.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Active registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) or NMC
  • United Kingdom recognised Degree in a relevant subject
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of professional portfolio and registration revalidation
  • Completed a Post Graduate Qualification in teaching or education

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in an acute clinical environment
  • Substantial experience in healthcare education in a clinical setting or healthcare education provider

Knowledge / Skills

Essential

  • Able to manage different priorities and projects with evidence of previous experience
  • Acts as a role model and can lead by example to ensure the Trust's values and behaviours are reinforced throughout the team, service and wider trust
  • Demonstrates ability to keep up to date with professional issues that influence Healthcare education

Desirable

  • Lead on the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies/protocols/guidelines relevant to educational practice.
