Job summary
The
Yorkshire and Humber Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) Operational Network aims
to ensure that patients have equitable access to the highest quality of CHD
care, irrespective of age and location.
This
exciting new role for Lead Cardiac Physiologist will provide professional and
clinical leadership across the Network, acting as a source of expertise, training
and support for cardiac physiologists involved in the provision of diagnostic
investigations for children and adults with congenital heart disease. The
post will initially be a fixed term 1 year contract which we would hope to
make substantive if the role is successful.
Main duties of the job
The
post-holder will work with the Network Management Team and the Congenital
Echo Team based at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The Lead Physiologist
will work with cardiac physiologists / clinical scientists across the
Network. To support the development of
diagnostic cardiac investigations and ensure national service standards and
specifications for CHD are met. The post holder will ensure relevant
education and training is delivered across all provider units.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
- Post graduate qualification in cardiac ultrasound or equivalent
- British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) Transthoracic accreditation
- Congenital echo accreditation or equivalent
Experience
Essential
- Describe what experience you have within cardiac ultrasound.
- Give some examples of the more complex congenital cardiac abnormalities you have come across
Skills & behaviours
Essential
- Describe any mentoring you have been involved in.
- Give examples of when you have had to communicate your findings from an echo.
