Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a band 7 Sister / Charge Nurse in our Podiatric Surgery department. The Podiatric Surgery Department is based at our Belmont site on the outskirts of the city, and delivers both an outpatient and theatre service.

As a Sister / Charge Nurse within the department you must have excellent communication skills, organisational skills and be able to lead a team. You will be expected to work in all areas of the department.

We are looking for a highly motivated leader to work within our team whilst ensuring high standards of care, demonstrating Wye Valley NHS Trusts values and professionalism.

Main duties of the job

  • To Demonstrate and promote professional leadership and clinical management.
  • To monitor and manage the clinical workload to ensure the effective deployment of staff, taking all possible actions to minimise risk when optimum staffing levels are not sustainable
  • To be accountable for the standards of clinical practice and ensure staff work to those standards.
  • To ensure staffing is managed within the approved funded establishment.
  • Manage long term and short term sickness
  • To lead on recruitment, selection and retention of staff

Education & Qualifications

  • Nurse: First level Registration and NMC registration ODP: Dip HE or Degree in Operating Department Practice and registered with the HCPC
  • Post registration qualification within speciality or equivalent
