We are excited to announce new training post opportunities for the Diagnostic Radiographer BSc Degree Apprenticeship. We are seeking enthusiastic, capable individuals keen to join the Trust to gain a fully funded University of Exeter degree in Diagnostic Radiography through employment-based apprenticeship training, working towards a career as a Radiographer.
We have successfully recruited three previous intakes and will be looking to enrol two further candidates on the Exeter University Apprenticeship Radiographer Degree Program, due to commence in March 2025. Candidates will be required to start employment with us in October 2024 as university applications are expected to open November 2024 with the course commencing in March 2025. This is an exciting training opportunity to become a Diagnostic Radiographer eligible for HCPC registration (subject to course completion) while earning a salary. Applicants without the necessary qualifications will not be considered, including GCSE Mathsand Englishgrade C or 4(orFunctional Skills Maths and English Level 2, or equivalent) and 3 A-Levels grade BBC* (with x1 B in a science subject*) or equivalent BTEC/T-Level/ Level 3 Apprenticeship Senior Healthcare Support Worker - Radiology route.
Main duties of the job
The Apprenticeship Degree Program is a pathway developed in conjunction with NHS England, to provide the opportunity to locally train enthusiastic prospective students to become Radiographers. Successful candidates will be employed by Homerton Hospital on a fixed term (3 year) training post contract. They will be enrolled with the University of Exeter and are expected to complete work-based, online and self-directed learning as outlined in the Exeter University prospectus. One week residential block attendance per term at Exeter University will be required, accommodation and travel costs will be paid by the Radiology department. Apprenticeship Radiographers will be supported and supervised in the Radiology Department by our own qualified Radiographers and Mentors/Practice Educators. There will be one day a week (20%) off-the-job learning achieved with a mixture of live online lectures, assignments and guided study.
At Homerton we have a diverse and enthusiastic Radiology team providing a continually expanding Imaging Service. You would work alongside our qualified Radiographers in all areas of the department, gaining excellent opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills within our modern, well equipped and supportive Radiology Department.
