Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 therapy support worker, for a fixed term of 1 year, to join our team on the St Mary's site as part of the wider respiratory therapy team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

You will be working with patients under the supervision of physiotherapists and occupational therapists within the vascular, general surgery, trauma and orthopaedics, neuro-surgical and respiratory specialties to help deliver high quality patient focused rehabilitation. This post also includes non-clinical and administrative tasks.

You will have good communication skills, interpersonal skills and a passion for delivering excellent patient centred care.

Main duties of the job

To assist, support and work under the direction of a qualified therapist.

To manage own caseload of patients, with supervision.

To achieve, develop and maintain competencies through skills and knowledge development.

To record patient information in line with Trust guidelines.

To work effectively within the team, service and Trust.

To perform non-clinical and administrative duties within the service, as required.

To manage equipment, products and stock levels.

Education/ Qualifications

Essential

  • General Education to GCSE level including English/ equivocal English qualification.

Desirable

  • Care Certificate

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with the public.
  • Previous experience of caring for people in or outside of work
  • Experience of administrative work e.g. photocopying, filing.

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in hospital setting.

Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

Essential

  • Able to follow instruction and work both independently and within a team carrying out clinical and administration duties.
  • Basic IT skills
  • Able to manage time and prioritise workload.
  • Good communication skills
  • To have strategies for dealing with stressful interpersonal situations and frequent exposure to unpleasant conditions.

Desirable

  • Experience in UK health care system.
  • Knowledge of basic administrative processes.
