Job summary

We have a very exciting new opportunities to recruit to a B7 Senior Practitioner Occupational Therapist development post at Early Intervention Team . We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic OT to join our fantastic Community Services Team within the Salford division.

Occupational Therapy is a fundamental part of the recovery focused work the specialist mental health team model is proving. You will therefore be involved in the community transformation which is happening at present in community mental health.

You will be one of two Senior Practitioner OT's providing senior leadership to the Early Intervention Team to OTs based at two other CMHTs, EIT and Living Well Service. As we move towards community transformation. You will be involved in developing the physical health and CERT pathways.

Regular clinical supervision from the professional Lead for Occupational Therapy will be offered and encouraged and there is also the opportunity to attend and engage in regular bi-monthly Allied Health Professionals CPD meetings.

Main duties of the job

  1. Provide clinical and professional leadership, supervision, support and consultation to designated occupational therapy staff and MDT staff in the Early Intervention team, in line with relevant clinical pathway (functional or dementia) as outlined within the EIT/ CMHT operational procedure.
  2. To support the Directorate Professional Lead for Occupational Therapy, in the operational and strategic development of the occupation therapy service. You will be offered protected time to complete the specific Occupational Therapy leadership and operational tasks of the role.
  3. To be involved in developing OT pathways for Community Teams.
  4. To be involved in developing pathways and procedures for the Support Workers, and Community Engagement and Recovery Team workers.
  5. To maintain own clinical and professional competence through designated reduced number of client pure OT caseload, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and record all interventions, in line with relevant clinical pathway (functional or dementia) as outlined within the CMHT operational procedure.
  6. To provide Leadership support as a senior OT within the team
  7. To be involved in developing a range of recovery focused workshops which can be delivered with the CMHT,EIT & Living well.

Experience

  • Experience of working as a qualified OT in a CMHT/EIT
  • Detailed knowledge of best practice, legislation, governance and risk management relevant to post
  • Specialist knowledge and application of OT models, assessment and interventions relevant to client group.
  • Knowledge and application of standardised mental health assessments, outcome measures and specialist tools
  • Experience of managing a complex caseload
