Lincolnshire Heart Centre
POST CCT CLINICAL FELLOW IN HEART FAILURE AND COMPLEX DEVICES
Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow with an interest in Heart Failure and Complex Devices at the Lincolnshire Heart Centre, based at Lincoln County Hospital.
This post is for 12 months and will enable the successful applicant to consolidate their training with a year of specialist training in all aspects of simple and complex device implantations in a busy non-surgical tertiary referral centre. The post holder will also gain experience in the management of all forms of heart failure.
The United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust is a large acute NHS Trust which is responsible for a comprehensive range of healthcare services to a local population of 750,000 patients. Annually, over 450 devices are implanted at the centre including single or dual chamber ICDs, CRT-Ps and CRT-Ds. The department already performs tunnelling of LV leads and venoplasty in selected cases and the post holder will gain experience in these procedures. A program of subcutaneous ICDs and conduction system pacing is shortly to be commenced.
Main duties of the job
This post would be suitable for applicants with CCT in Cardiology who already have basic training in devices implantation, but wish to increase their experience and procedural numbers. Depending on their level of training, the post-holder would be expected to perform at least 200 solo or first-operator procedures in this year. There is no General Cardiology on-call commitment but there is an option of participating in a low-intensity non-interventional pan-Trust consultant rota if desired. It is expected that the post-holder will undertake one general cardiology/heart failure/arrhythmia clinic each week depending on the fellow's interest.
Informal enquiries may be made to Dr Vinod Venugopal, Consultant Cardiologist, on 01522 597873.
