Job summary

The Anaesthetics department at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust provides a variety of services across the Trust sites including General Surgery, Upper GI surgery, Colorectal, Orthopaedics, ENT, Urology, Oral Surgery.

An opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Anaesthetist seeking an opportunity to join the Anaesthetics team for a permanent appointment. This post does include an on-call commitment.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to be appointed as Honorary Senior Lecturer at Hull York Medical School (HYMS). This honorary appointment is in recognition of contribution to teaching and research and holders of honorary titles may request access to HYMS and University premises and facilities, systems, and library services.

Main duties of the job

We are currently seeking dynamic and motivated professionals to join our Trust and aid us in delivering high quality care for our patients. The Trust is going through an exciting period of change and diversity which is being led with Clinicians at the forefront.

We have posts at both our Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby, and our Scunthorpe General Hospital for Consultants in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care. The successful candidates will be expected to take an active role in education, teaching and clinical audit.

Scunthorpe General Hospital, Goole District Hospital and Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital deliver a full range of emergency/secondary health care services including intensive and high dependency care. There are 8 fully equipped Theatres at the Diana Princess of Wales Hospital and there are 5 Theatre suites in Scunthorpe, offering a quality service to a wide range of specialties including Urology, Gynaecology, Orthopaedic/Trauma, Colorectal, Maxillo-Facial, ENT, Ophthalmology, Surgical specialties, Dental and Obstetrics.

The Anaesthetic team also lead an efficient Acute Pain Service.

The appointee will be expected to deliver high quality care to the patients presenting to the department.

Qualifications

Essential

  • oFull GMC Registration, with a Licence to Practice
  • oUndertaken programme of training acceptable to the Royal College of Anaesthetist for appointment to Consultant Status
  • oIntermediate Level of training in Critical Care or Equivalent
  • oEntry on the Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within six months of interview), CESR or European Community Rights
  • applicants have undertaken undergraduate medical training in English; or

Desirable

  • oHigher specialist training in ITU

Experience

Essential

  • oEvidence of specific training in Anaesthetics

Desirable

  • oEvidence of participation in Clinical Audit
