Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a communications professional specialising in creative campaigns with a pro-active and can-do attitude, creative ideas and solid experience working within communications and marketing teams to support the work of the ICB.

Main duties of the job

This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience across multiple stakeholders in the North East and North Cumbria, and to drive forward creative ideas on how we best communicate with multiple stakeholders. This is also a chance to join an innovate, fast-paced and friendly communications team.You will work closely with the ICB's head of PR and the wider communications team, as well as a wide range of partners internally and externally, to develop and deliver public facing behavioural change campaigns to the public that are vital for patient awareness of access to services and will enable the ICB to deliver the best use of digital technologies including the provision podcasts, videos and blogs across a range of web and digital platforms, keeping pace with new digital tools, trends and technology.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be a key member of the communications directorate and will support the development and implementation of campaign and communication strategies for the ICB.

The post holder will report directly to Public Relations Manager for all ICB communications and engagement matters.

The post holder will have a key role in delivering the vision and objectives of the ICB:

To ensure that the highest quality integrated care is provided, in the most efficient and sustainable way, by the most appropriate professional to meet the needs our population.

The four strategic objectives that support the achievement of the vision are to:

1. Ensure that the ICB makes best use of all available resources

2. Ensure the delivery of safe, high quality services that deliver the best outcomes

3. Create joined up pathways within and across organisations to deliver seamless care

4. Deliver clinically led health services that are focused on individual and wider population needs and based on evidence

The post holder will support the Strategic Head of Communications with the development of communications and engagement strategies to ensure that the ICB meets its statutory obligations under sections 242 and 244 of the NHS Act 2006.

The post holder will lead the implementation of communication and engagement/involvement plans and related activities, ensuring that the ICB is meeting national standards and best practice relating to patient and public involvement, and that feedback is shared so that it can be used to inform commissioning decisions and result in improvements to patient care.

The post holder will build on existing joint working with partner organisations on patient and public involvement and initiate new opportunities where there are gaps.

The post-holder will provide advice and support to other ICB employees to ensure it carries out all of its duties effectively, including its statutory requirements on the duties to involve and consult (sections 242 and 244 of the NHS Act 2006).

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience in a large, complex organisation using a wide range of engagement techniques at corporate and local levels
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective engagement and communications plans and tracking and managing project delivery and evaluation
  • Partnership working building effective partnerships with different groups (internal & external) and partner agencies/organisations.
  • Developing policies relating to communications and engagement
  • Experience of working in an NHS environment
  • Experience of working with service users, patients, carers and public seeking involvement to strategy and service development
  • Experience of planning and delivering communications and engagement/involvement plans including formal consultations
  • Experience of organising/managing large scale events
  • Educated to Masters degree level or equivalent experience
