Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a band 7 nurse role within our Children's Neurodevelopment Service.

The service provides specialist neurodevelopmental assessments for children presenting with neurodevelopmental conditions as well as treatment and support via our medication pathway.

We are a multi-disciplinary team with a wide breadth of knowledge and experience. We offer excellent training opportunities and regular supervision.

Main duties of the job

Participate on the non-medical prescribing course to work with children who have been diagnosed with a neurodevelopment condition, providing appropriate medication and ongoing reviews of their medication needs, in line with shared care protocols.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering evidence based nursing and medication interventions in line with national guidelines and care pathways.

The post holder will act as a role model to assist in the embedding of outcome measures and outcome orientated practice in the team and support colleagues through formal and informal supervision and peer support.

The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) for children and young people who are assessed for neurodevelopment conditions. They will work alongside colleagues and contribute to the assessment and diagnoses process and the intervention work undertaken within the neurodevelopment service.

The post holder will work with children and young people with neurodevelopment conditions, practising with a high level of autonomy and clinical expertise in non-medical independent prescribing, assessment and treatment.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

Essential

  • Qualified Nurse in Children's, adult, Learning Disabilities or Mental health.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development at level 7 (Masters level) through formal qualifications or equivalent experience in an area of practice relevant to this post
  • Safeguarding Training
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Qualified Independent Nurse Prescriber

Desirable

  • Experience in prescribing ADHD medication
  • Knowledge of neurodevelopment conditions
