Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity fora General Practitioner to join our forward-thinking and dynamic team within Central Brighton and Hove.

About the role:

You will be part of a large and multidisciplinary team of allied health professionals. Education, research and management will all be part of providing a high level service, but your work will be firmly grounded in direct compassionate care or clinical work with patients, families and disadvantaged communities.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

Hold surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self- referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.

Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness

Provide counselling and health education

Admit or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate

Record clear consultation notes to agreed standards

Collect data for audit purposes

Comply and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand- written prescriptions whenever possible)

Prescribe in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

Undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Contribute to delivering of Enhanced Services

Contribute to the delivery of QOFs.

Contribute to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation

Contribute to the development of computer-based patient records

Contribute to the summarising of patient records and Read-Coding patient data

Attend training and events organised by the Practice or other agencies, where appropriate.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in managing a wide range of medical conditions and patient demographics.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary team working and contributing to team-based care.
  • Strong clinical skills with the ability to assess, diagnose, and manage a variety of health conditions.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care to all patients, particularly disadvantaged populations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable

  • Evidence of independent working in General Practice Experience of supporting service change Teaching of GP Reg/F2/Medical students/Clinical Practitioners Accredited GP Registrar trainer or F2 Supervisor Evidence of participation in QOF

Qualifications

Essential

  • A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner Register under article 10 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003. Not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983. Qualified General Practitioner (completed certificate of Completion of Training CCT). Currently on a CCG Performers list and not suspended from that list or from the medical register. DBS clearance. Evidence of time-relevant revalidation/appraisal cycle.

Desirable

  • Evidence of further postgraduate educational activities in relevant fields MRCGP DCH DRCOG F2 supervisor training/teaching diploma
