Job summary
The Radiotherapy Team at the Beacon Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital would like to welcome a new Radiotherapy Clinical Support Worker. The role is unique in that it involves both technical and clinical work to support the radiographers with the efficient daily management of the radiotherapy service.
The role will involve taking on a variety of administrative tasks, providing accurate and timely support to the patients, Therapeutic Radiographers and the Radiotherapy Management team.
Main duties of the job
As Radiotherapy Clinical Support Worker, you'll offer administration support to the team as well as interact with patients and staff to ensure that patients are ready for their treatments.
Part of your role will involve maintaining up to date patient information and analysing and comparing information and data in spreadsheets.
You'll also support patients who can be emotional and distressed at times and carry out clinical duties such as taking bloods, basic patient care, performing clinical observations, performing urinalysis dip tests, mouth checks, measure and record height and weight informing the clinical team of the results. This will all be completed following training.
The role is varied and interesting and there is opportunity to develop further within the remit of the department to further support the Radiographers.

Qualifications
Essential
- Good standard of general education
- Must be able to communicate in English Language, both written and verbally
Desirable
- Relevant qualification equivalent to NVQ2
Experience
Essential
- Proficient IT knowledge; in particular MS Office with intermediate level knowledge in Excel and Word applications
Desirable
- Experience in providing care in Healthcare
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience of working with members of the public
- Trained in phlebotomy
- Use of MOSAIQ EMR
- Management of databases; recording and retrieval of information, data interrogation and graphical presentation
- 4Knowledge of Healthcare Clinical Systems
