Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant
Dermatologist, Dermatology Speciality Doctor or GPwER Dermatologist to join our
new Community Dermatology Service. The overarching aim of the service is to
provide an innovative, high quality, consultant-led service to the residents of
Dorset. The service aims to deliver an accessible, efficient service, managing
the majority of diagnostics, outpatient and surgical activity within a
community care setting.
You would be joining a new team of dermatologists working within
the community.

We can be flexible on the days worked and on the number of
sessions offered, but this would ideally be a minimum of 4 sessions per month
(i.e. a minimum of 1 morning/afternoon per week, or 2 full days per month).

Main duties of the job
Provide assessment, investigation and treatment for adult dermatology
patients including phlebotomy, biopsy and swab taking, cryotherapy and
reporting of results but excluding 2WW referrals, connective tissue disorders,
leg ulcers and systemic illnesses.
Deliver a high-quality, accessible
service under consultant supervision, ensuring excellent patient outcomes in
accordance with NICE guidelines and best practices.
About us
The Advanced Healthcare Centre was created
to provide a comprehensive NHS-commissioned Health Village for specialist
outpatient activities with sufficient and sustainable capacity to meet the
needs of the local population, support GPs and secondary care, and improve, within
existing resources, access and health outcomes for patients.
The Health Village will encompass
5,000m2 on a single site, have 16 outpatient departments and facilities for
teaching, training and continuous professional development. We have completed Phase
1 and are ready to open 3 outpatient services; by the end of year 2 we will
have capacity for over 200,000 patient encounters per year.

Job responsibilities
Offer comprehensive assessment, investigation, and
treatment for patients with skin diseases, including a full diagnostic service
with phlebotomy, biopsies, swab collection, and result reporting.
Provide a high-quality, accessible,
multidisciplinary service under consultant supervision, ensuring excellent
patient outcomes in line with NICE guidelines and best practices.
Operate a one-stop-shop model wherever possible,
where patients can be assessed and treated in the same appointment by a GPwER
or during a joint appointment with a GPwER and a consultant.
Participate in the clinical triage for all
dermatology referrals.
Appropriately manage cases and follow local
referral pathways.
Support patients in managing their skin diseases.
Offer information and guidance on self-care,
prevention, and ongoing management of long-term skin conditions.
