Job summary

One Hatfield Hospital, has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Outpatients Registered Nurse to join their friendly and dynamic team.

Hours:25 per week, Monday to Friday with occasional Saturday shifts. Shifts will be between 08:00 and 20:00.

Salary:Dependent on skillset and experience. Equivalent to Band 5, NHS AfC.

Main duties of the job

Reporting to the Outpatient Manager, the successful Registered Nurse will be required to provide the highest standard of individualised patient care as part of the clinical team, including:

  • Ensuring the comfort and safety of patients during their visit/admission to the hospital.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and ensuring compliance in line with hospital policies, national guidelines and best practice standards.
  • Carrying out clinical nursing procedures, including wounds, assistance with minor procedures, monitoring vital signs, venepuncture and chaperoning.

Job responsibilities

Registered Nurse Outpatient

Reports To: Outpatient Manager

Role Summary

Ensure the smooth running of clinics assessing the needs of the patient, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care

Identify patient care requirements by establishing a rapport, providing emotional and psychological support to the patient as well as to their family/carer

Provide healthcare advice, educating patients/family/carers on the condition, medications, self-care and health maintenance, answering any questions they may have

Carry out clinical nursing procedures, including administering medication, assistance with minor procedures, monitoring vital signs, venepuncture chaperoning.

Record and maintain accurate patient medical records and histories on the relevant care pathways, clinical forms and IT systems

Monitor and complete clinical outcomes and designated clinic allocation, complete appropriate charge sheets to assist in the billing and revenue capture

Report changes and concerns regarding patients health to outpatients manager/RMO

Participate in audit processes for monitoring nursing quality

Assist with establishing and monitoring care pathways in relation minor procedures, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards, making or recommending necessary adjustments

Report incidents and complaints via the Datix reporting module and escalate appropriately to senior member of staff if unable to resolve.

Accurate monitoring and recording of Early Warning Score where relevant and escalate appropriately as per policy

Maintain and practice comprehensive handover of clinics between shifts, departments and multidisciplinary team including external agencies.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with NMC

Desirable

  • Clinical nursing experience in outpatients or clinic environment
  • Demonstrable knowledge and skills and competency of required clinical practice.
  • Phlebotomy, cannulation, ECGs, and intravenous antibiotics would be an advantage.

Experience

Essential

  • -Clinical nursing experience in outpatients or clinic environment
  • -Proven ability to work independently and within a team

Desirable

  • -Enthusiasm for cross-functional working within clinical departments as reasonably required.
  • -Experience in the private sector
  • -Relevant clinical skills in addition to assisting with minor procedures
